A couple of observations about the new server

Post by E.T. EddieTorrez » Fri Feb 13, 2009 3:34 am

First of all thanks for getting it up and running again Dog, all of us who frequent the server really do appreciate it. There were just a couple of differences which I have noticed between the old and the new.

1. When some players die grenades fall on the ground beside the body and show up on your mini-map. As far as I can tell they do not serve a purpose.

2. There are a few regular maps where the bots have path finding problems. At the moment the only one I can think of is Avalanche but I have noticed it on others as well.

Hey Eddie. The nades dropping is a plug-in I asked Dog to put in. It's not up to snuff yet, it just needs to be tweaked. (you will able to pick-up enemy nades after their death)

Also Dog made a cool plug-in that switches teams after cap-out on certain maps...like Kraftstoff (I like it a lot)

But we have our team view names back after that frightful Valve update and everything is running smooth.

I didn't notice the bots having trouble, they were fiding their way and capping out.

Which maps Eddie and I'll check the waypoint data. It might be those maps don't have a waypoint file.

As for that grenade plugin...I looked at the tweak options, and apart from what we have, there isn't much we can do. Do you pick up the nades with +USE?

At the moment you cannot pick up the nades, even with the use key. I forgot all about the team switch, I think its a great addition to the game. Now if only some players would stay on their team when they get switched.

I guess I didn't really explain the bots, for the most part they do run out of the base so they do have path finding. Their paths just seem to be clunkier than before, for example on Avalanche it is common to see 3 germans running into each other on the top floor of the stairwell.

While I'm playing I'll take notes on other strange bot activities.

I noticed that sometimes you can kill a team mate with your own grenade, but when checked FF is off. Has happened a few times.

When trying to send someone to another team the Team names are now Terrorists and Counter Terrorists. :)

I just played a little and I can pick up nades off the ground now. But you have to have thrown at least 1 of your own first. :D

Sweet. You can pick up both teams nades. :)

I changed the nades plugin to the older one!
:D

Also added medic...I wrote this a while ago. It runs the same way as the DoDS medic plugin.

I've got a simple question for most anyone, how do you set a bind?

So does this mean you'll be stopping by TV3 sometime in the near future Dog?

Just a couple more things that I noticed today. On glider allies can pick up the german dynamite bundles but cannot use them. And one of the bots does not work on that map, cannot remember the name so I will add that later.
