first off if taking a snapshot you would use f5 for taking a screenshot of stuff. if you have it binded to another key that works also. as for demo you have to start those in your console
playdemo plays the demo after making it. and record demo records it but you have to give it a title name.
other then i am sure those that play dod can help you with your question

If you want to record videos for editing in a video editor such as Premiere, you'll have to record them as AVIs.

You have two choices:
1. Record while playing the game
2. Record a demo, play it back and record that footage.

You will need a program called Fraps to record it. The old version is the better one!

Assuming your know how to bind keys, if you dont, ill explain later...

bind "x" "snapshot"

For screen shots, I have mine bound to "t" so it's easy to reach for action shots  ya right

For "movies" you'll need to record the raw game file, or a demo.

Step 1. Record the raw data:

When your're in game bring up the console and type

record "yourmoviename"
example:
record TVC07

That will create the .dem file located in your C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\l3eeron\day of defeat\dod

Step 2. Convert the raw to bitmaps

Start up DoD but dont join a server. Bring up the console and type

startmovie "yourmoviename" "#frames per second"
example

startmovie l3eeron 32

This will create hundreds of bitmaps

Step 3. Use program like Premier to compile all the images into a movie (avi) add music etc...

Here's one I did (super low-res)

That'll get you on the right path, just google anything you might get stuck on

Hope that helped!

:D :D

::Personal Opinion::
Depends on your rig, I know back when I was in Cal-League and had to record..It would kinda make things a bit more choppier than usual and drop a few fps here and there. I managed though, nothing major.

www.fraps.com Its a gaming recorder, you just hit f9 in game and it starts recording, although if you didn't pay for it and just got the trial version it only lets you record for 30 seconds at a time. But one thing to remember is that after you make your movies make sure to delete the original videos because they are not converted into a smaller file type so they take up a lot of space.

Sometimes the original 5-10 seconds your rig will chug while it gets it started, but after that I haven't had any issues.

I use fraps because it converts directly to avi which then can be used in editing programs such as Premiere...

But like I said before, once your done with the video clips delete em, cause each of my 30 second clips was 77 mb.
