What cool binds do you use?

Post by l3eeron » Fri Nov 07, 2008 10:10 am

So, I got to thinking, I should probably get some hotkeys going for the different classes. One thing VALVe did was give each class it's own .cfg so we can set up class specific keys. The only thing I have set up (besides my admin stuff) is right click to reload with soldier. Everything else is all default still. I was playing engineer the other night and was getting frustrated flipping through all his weapons. It got me thinking, I wonder what everyone else uses?

I'm going to add these to my engy config file:

Code: Select all

//build dispenser
bind "END" "build 0"

//build sentry gun
bind "HOME" "build 3"

//call out spy
bind "t" "voicemenu 1 1"
If you have any useful binds, share em!

or, even better post your your .cfgs so we can all learn!

edit : Here's the binds guide I posted a long time ago, in case you wanted to experiment on your own.

I have reload bound to my mousewheel, so my R key makes me explode.

It made for some amusing times when Buzzy then tried to play TF2 on my computer.

"Why do I keep exploding??"

:lol:

Do you really need to suicide so often that you need a key for it?

I have

bind m "sm_evilrocket l3eeron"

I like to do it during set up times, people get a kick out of it.

It's mostly for setup and end-of-round tomfoolery, but yes :D

Um, I would use binds, unfortunately, all the space in which my left hand can reach the keys are taken. And I hate having to reach across the keyboard or having to let go of the mouse in order to click on something alllllll the way on the other side of the keyboard.

If I did find space on my keyboard, though, I would like to bind the "Spy!" voice command. Maybe I could bind it to CTRL!

Gasp!

I think binding "spy!" to a key is the most essential one to bind if you were to make any customs. Thanks and "thanks!" I can see how engie binds could be really helpful though, I just don't play the class that much.

I wonder what kind of crazy stuff Dog has bound :lol:

Oh hey Infy...

Might I suggest something?

Try your mic bound to mouse3 (if you have a mouse with the wheel that pushes in like a button) then you can run around easier while talking.

I also hate binds. It's much easier to control the game with my mind...

It's too bad you don't have much of one, otherwise playing might actually be really easy for you!

OH ZING.

I never bind mouse3 because I use the scrollwheel to switch weapons and it's annyoing/dangerous if you inadvertently switch weapons at times.

I do have a 5-button mouse and bind reload to 5 and voice comm to 4 so I can do either without taking my hand off of the mouse or my control keys.

I can't imagine anything in TF2 I would want to set up even a simple command series for except maybe quick spy disguising or bind your engy builds, which shortcut 1 key for two.
