Life's tough when everyone within 60,000 points of you plays 24/7 Warpath...

382.6 here. But I'm still kinda low on the rankings, so eeeveryone doesn't give me 2 points, just most people. When I do ever so rarely see any regulars, I get a decent number of points.

What are you using for a formula, shouldn't you use (points-1000)/hrs, since you start with 1000 points, not 0? The extra 1,000 will skew the per hour number higher the fewer points you have.

Also, if you're 111 out of 91,379 it's tough to call that 'low'. I'm 495th!

I'm at 405/hr, 389/hr if I take out the starting 1,000, with my mere 45.9 hours played.

I'm sure someone with the data and some statistical analysis skills could demonstrate a correlation of time played:points that would let you know how you're doing compared to players with comparable time invested, which might also be interesting.

While everyone starts with 1000 points, some noobs could actually lose some of that 1000 points and then have to gain it back. So, you still have to use the 1000 points in the equation.

Also, since everyone gets the 1000 points used in the equation, it all helps / hurts equally, and really doesn't skew the results when it comes to comparison purposes.

By the way .... 352.7 PPH. ( I've gone down a little :? )

Now that would indeed be interesting !!! :)

I still think that the best way is to use the points that you actually see when you hit tab to see the scores. Its doable but i dont think anyone will bother recording those. Valve records it, but thats about it.

if you view your steam ID, and detailed TF2 stats, see Accumulated Points and then divide that by play time. If you ask me, that better determines how good you are, but, BUT... thats also over your entire TF2 career.

Im at 120 points scored per hour.

< nerd> Actually, the example you cite proves why you need to subtract 1000 first. A player could join, play 10 minutes, lose 10 points and show 1180 points per hour. Another player could join, gain 1000 points in 5 hours and would show 400 points per hour. Yet another player could join, play 20 hours and gain 4000 points and would show 250 points per hour.
The effect diminishes with time played, the second and third examples both players are actually earning 200 points per hour (the first should be losing ~60 points per hour), but the 1000 start has given a much smaller effect to the 20 hour player than the 5 hour player. </nerd>

Anyway, I don't think we'll really see a ranking of P/HP, so it doesn't really matter anyway.

I know. I just find stats interesting. While no single stat can tell you exactly how skilled a player is, a group of the right stats could paint a decent picture.
