Another stat rerquest / question

Does HLsatsX have the ability to count a medic kill assit as a kill ?

The reason I ask is that medics have horrible K/D ratio because they mainly get assists and only get kills when they syringe or bone saw someone.

I know that the TF2 game calls an assist .... an assist. However, I know that the stats are set up so that Medic assists give extra points for that assist. So I know that HLstatsX recognizes medic assists as an event

Would it be possible for the stats to count a medic assist aa a kill so that way we could see a medics true K/D ratio ?

Just looking for a way to give our medics a little love.

You do see the medic's true kill / death ratio. If you want an assist / death ratio, you shouldn't ask for the assist to be counted as a kill. Medics have absurdly high A/D and counting it as a K/D would inflate the statistics a ton.

That aside, medics already have a ton of love. They gain points easier and faster than any other class. There are just so few medics who play enough to get near the top of the list. If you see someone in the top 25 with a KPD < 1.00, you know whose team to join.

Well and A/D ratio would work just fine. I just want to have that info available as a way to see the top medics. :)

Where is it ? I have looked at the stat page and don't see a link for Assists per Death.

You need a way to find the top medics? Go to search for players and type in either "Torven", "Ladeee", "PhantomFighter", or "Optimus Prime".

There you have it :D

I doubt A/D will ever be a real statistic. It's a bit confusing given the difference between medic assist and regular assist. You can figure out who the most active medics are, however, using the Medic Assist records.

It only records the previous month so it'll always be fairly up-to-date (not necessarily showing more than time commitment, like most statistics, however).

What we see is the medic's true KDR. Calling a MA a kill would be a grotesque corruption of the statistic. Assists, medic or not, aren't kills. A medic is healing, not doing damage, and the kill portion of the equation needs to go to the person who is. Besides, telling HLStatsX that a MA is a kill, if such a thing is even possible, would result in two people getting credit for killing the same person, causing it to do double-point-loss against the victim.

If we were going to start tracking MAs as kills, then spies could argue that destructions should be kills. Engineers could argue that teleports should be kills. Scouts could argue that intel recoveries should be kills. No - they're not. Special abilities are exactly that. They're to help the team, not pad individual stats with facetious information. KDR really isn't a particularly useful stat to use when comparing oneself with other classes anyway. Some kill more, some die more, that's just how it goes in a team game with multiple options like TF2. The only time it's of use, and that use is limited even in this situation, is comparing with others of the same class.

Like the highly relevant Points Per Hour number, ADR isn't a stat that the system tracks, much less MADR. Don't worry though. There's plenty of love out there for medics, and if you're a good medic who regularly plays, we'll know who you are.

The best way to enjoy the stats IMO is not to take them seriously, in TF2 at least. In other FPS I've played, most of the time the K/D ratio meant something, but even in these games it was not 100% perfect. You had players in DoD that were more useful because they would risk their skins at the right moment to cap an important flag, and this would not always show in the stats. In TF2, there are so much things that are important and that can't be entered into stats. Ubering someone is important.... only if you remove the important objectives. It's all well and good to get 6-7 med assists, but if the sg and its engineer are still standing.... you failed.

I stopped caring about my points and KPD when I realized I had more fun as a scout running and getting in people's faces. I die a lot more now but at least I take some with me before I do. :lol:
