Cube Soccer - Dog's latest stupid project
Well, it's the summer time and that only means one thing. Dog has begun a frenzy of programming again (this time in SourceMod because I despise Python which is now used by EventScripts)
So the past couple of nights I have been bringing to reality our dream of Weighted Companion Cube soccer!
Remember when a bunch of us got together on ctf_snofort and began shooting the Christmas presents under the tree and we tried to get both cubes into spawn? It was a bit of an anticlimax when we got them both into spawn and the game didn't end...
So I have been writing a plugin that will
1. spawn a Weighted Companion Cube in the center on the map
2. created two goal areas to where each team has to shoot/thump/whack the Weighted Companion Cube
3. when the Weighted Companion Cube goes in the goal, the round is won
Here are a few screenies of the pointlessness of the whole thing:
The Weighted Companion Cube - because it's a Portal object and some may not own Portal, I had to rip the model and textures out of Portal... If a player joins the server, the models will automatically upload on to their machine
!B a t m a n! whacking the crap out of the Weighted Companion Cube with an axe (Thanks for helping me test sir)
Stickies work amazingly well on the Weighted Companion Cube - so well that the Cube often gets blown out of the map. !B a t m a n! discovered the Heavy has the best control
I'll be loading up XSI this weekend and creating goal posts. For now I'm using a portal funnel from HL2.
I'll be doing more testing over the next fews days. Anyone up for some soccer?
