Matchmaking in TF2?

Man, it has been a while since I posted, so here's something I just happened to see on Reddit:

So what are your guys' thoughts about this? In my opinion, they should have integrated highlander in it, but then again Valve already has issues with 10 man cs go servers with people leaving and whatnot.

4 years too late. I'm interested in how it will turnout though.

My thoughts?

"Oh, another move by Valve that actively harms its extent communities and panders to the competitive minority, while creating a mechanism to encourage unsportsmanlike conduct and focus on personal standings instead of teamwork? Must be a Thursday."

In other words... not surprised, doom, gloom, the usual.

It will be interesting to see what happens. If you're curious watch Fully Charged tomorrow night as they're going to have some of the folks that visited valve on to talk about what they heard.

I am guessing the initial mm will be a few months away and probably just 6v6 with minimal/no restrictions. I might give it a whirl but I don't really enjoy TF2center as it is - not sure if this will end up more like the unofficial centers/lobbies we have now for TF2 or more like CS:GO where people actually try to do win.

This might end up being a big shot in the arm for TF2's player base, which would be great. Nothing could kill community servers more than QP already has. What I'm really hoping to see is that mm might provide the necessary data for some much needed weapon balancing.

So, there've been 6 beta stress tests of TF2mm - has anyone tried it?
I see a fair number of people from TV community are in the beta group.
I've done 8 or 10, mostly with friends and a few solo queues. It's a little weird while they test things (the settings that get forced and how it really works), but it's been a lot more fun than I would have guessed.

I am kinda crabby I didn't get a full-time beta pass yet. . . hard to believe it took almost a year from the start to where they're finally testing it.
