TV7 Refresh Take Two

It's been a while since removal from the quickplay pool... and while the last switch may have helped a little (you can see the graph flattens a tiny bit near the end), I think we can do better. It's been far too long since the last large rotation change... and we know there are multiple maps that haven't been doing the best in the rotation.

Anyway, after talking to a few people, we've come up with a possible switch out of 4 maps. I'd like to gather opinions on this, especially from those who frequent TV7.

Maps we'd like to remove:
  • Foundry
  • Process
  • Badlands
  • Granary
Maps we'd like to add:
  • cp_5gorge
  • Turbine
  • Gravelpit
  • Coldfront
This obviously isn't set in stone. What are everyone's opinions? Should we go for it? Should we not?

I'd like to keep Foundry - of the 5cp maps on the server now, it's probably the least damaging to the server population.

I also wouldn't add cp_5gorge. I was damaging to the population even when we had quickplay.

Other than that, it looks reasonable to me.

Keep Granary, remove Turbine. Turbine can be a huge stalemate map. I sometimes frequent a 24/7 Turbine map and some of the stalemates there can take a looooong time.

Welcome to the forums Antwan!

Did we ever have 5cp Gorge on tv7? I remember having the A/D Gorge, but honestly have only played the 5cp one once or twice.

Been a while since we had Coldfront and Gravelpit on tv7, might be nice to get them back on.

I feel any change on tv7, is a good one. I appreciated the doublecross/snakewater swap as a teaser. It would be nice to have 3-4 more changed out. Change out one of the pl maps as well. tv7 used to have pl_nightfall on it....seems to me it did well.

I do think we had the attack/defend gorge on tv7 but I also recall in most cases the server stayed full with that map.

I'm pretty sure that a small change won't deplete server activity, and things can always be put back the way they were.

We had gravelpit not long ago, not sure if that was received well last time, nor 2fort which I think we replaced with gravelpit.

Turbine can lead to a stalemate, but stalemates usually keep the server full....tryhard vs tryhard=WINNARZ. We could try adding cp_fastlane again, that can do well.

5gorge is a bad map that people hate playing, I would not add it.

I updated the initial list to not mess with foundry or 5gorge. Still switching out 3 or so would still be nice.

EDIT: Related to turbine, I've seen some matches go on for a really long time, but I think the rotation should keep going even in case of a stalemate...

Well I don't know why you hold it against cp_5gorge that you were damaging the server population. That is something that you have to work on in your own time :D

I think the map is fine though. Regardless, its long past due the server gets a fresh coat of paint. The map rotation has been the same for the exception of doublecross since I started playing again. Having a few maps swapped out in lieu of new ones would help break the familiar mold especially for regulars who are used to the same ole same ole.

I'd also add koth_harvest as a temporary addition for the upcoming Halloween event.

Another suggestion....set the sniper/spy limit on TV7 to 2. I'm not against any of those classes but I've lost count of how many times a team has 3 each of snipers/scouts/spies. Then the team gets rolled, people rage quit, and its another couple hours of seeding attempts.

I agree that maps need to be swapped. This server is not dead for just a few hours a day.
