It seems that many people call a Scout "Scoot" and a Heavy a "Hoovy", but this never happens for any other class. Nobody ever calls a Soldier a "Sooldier". A Sniper never gets called a "Snooper", and an Engineer never gets called an Oonginerr.

What do people think? What's so special about scoots and hoovies? Post your speculation, either serious or silly, below!

Scout and scoot sound and look similar.

I'm guessing "Hoovy" came along because of that Fat Scout playstyle. And also because the internet is full of idiots who find crap like that funny.

Peahats has the right idea - most classes has a shortened or mispronounced nickname; those two are just similar. It's hard to shorten a one syllable word like "scout" so changing its pronunciation is what happened there. The usual written short form of Heavy, HWG, is long and difficult to pronounced out loud, so likewise it just gets mispronounced.

One thing though Pea... it's py-bro, man! Py-bro! ;-D

A lot of it also stems from the accent of the classes, for example

"That scots a bloody spy!"

Or you're from the south. And you have a hard time enunciating, that or people just can't understand what I'm saying.

There are times...when we're too lazy and jokish to use the real word.
There's me who does what is above and belives it's simpler 1st grade engrish. :3
Just change the "ea" and "ou" to "oo".
