Enabling Sprays

This might get shot down in flames but can we have sprays enabled? Maybe use a plugin to allow those only who register? It might even drive people to sign up on here.

There's plenty of good reasons why sprays aren't allowed. One of the best reasons; if you open a VTF editor (VTFEdit for example) and go through the directory that saves sprays from other people (steamapps/common/team fortress 2/materials/temp), you'll notice a good number are pretty offensive considering our standards. My own directory has several that are suggestive or involve cuss words and at least four of them are outright pornographic. I know there's mods that display players' names that sprayed sprays when you look at them, but it's fairly difficult to enforce offensive spray images and it's better off to outright restrict them.

I also noticed that close to a third of that temp directory involves MLP-related sprays. As if ponies aren't everywhere already.

Sprays are absolutely prohibited due to the seriously offensive nature of so many that get used. I don't imagine this will be changed unless and until the culture of the internet changes. They add nothing to the game, and can turn a server in to a fetid heap of garbage with the press of a key.

Just throwing it out there to try and at least give the suggestion some merit-- though, I very much agree with most, but I would like to think that at least supporters would know better.

Our servers are sv_pure 2 which prevents all custom content, including sprays. To allow sprays, we would have to switch to sv_pure 1 and add an exception, and there's really no good reason to do so.

This is really the only reply you need. The gifs, while funny and apropos at times, feel rude and almost hypocritical of the thing you are denouncing. Love it or hate it I don't think gifs are really the way to go about it.
