An IP ban means an IP range ban. i.e., we'd be banning everyone in the city of Carrolton.

I've seen him use the name "Uber Priest" twice now, so look out for that.

I have never heard of this guy until today, although I did see him under the name "Uber Priest" twice, today and a few days back. Thanks for the help, NKing, although I don't think we've seen the last of him yet.

He does occasionally repeat names, but rarely for long, and not usually enough to directly catch him by. Names I know we've got for him so far include, in approximate chronological order:

D Nice
D Nice - Spam and Eggs
Spam and Eggs
Improper Dancing Puppet
Sexy Dancing Machine
Sex Sex Sex
Nasty Sex Machine
Micky
The Hungry Man
Dr. Dong Slapper
Loco' Insanity
The newest one is Elegant Purple

He had two different Steam IDs banned yesterday under the Uber Priest name.

We definitely haven't seen the last of him. I think I've banned him five times since April.

Is it possible to blacklist the carrolton IP block and whitelist the specific players who do play from there?

Thats been discussed before about another problem we had before. And if memory serves me. It was easier just to IP ban the whole area, and cut our lose.

I really hope it doesn't ever come to that. It would really suck to have to have an entire city banned because of the actions of one idiot.

Thats why we haven't IP banned him, it's easier just to remove the bad apple from the basket, instead of throwing the whole basket away.

Suggestion for Valve that might improve this situation a lot:

In order to access any F2P games, you have to either own at least one non-F2P game or put $5.00 into your steam wallet (no requirement to spend it immediately - it can be used for anything the player wants, saved indefinitely, or even transferred to another steam account).

Think that would drive too many legitimate players away?

I think this can be fixed somewhat if the gameME stats showed the city players were connecting from as well as the country. So if we see a suspicious player connecting from Carrollton, the admins can take more immediate action if he's the one.

It already does. You're from Pittsburgh.

Or is that from something other than where you're connecting from?

That said, I think our admins already do an excellent job of handling it if they're on the server, or responding very quickly as soon as they're made aware that there's a problem if they're not. This is the case regardless of the location.
