SFM will almost always stops responding when you load a map, but it will come back. Just leave it alone and wait for the map to load.THE Flying chihuahua wrote:I would make something, but I crash every time I load a map.

Re: Source Filmmaker Creations
Yeah, loading up a map can take several minutes depending on the strength of your computer, and the program will go unresponsive (i.e. look like it's crashing) while loading, possibly even for a little while after the "Loading Map" message has vanished. For me, it usually takes ~30 seconds, but can take up to a minute or two depending on the map.
If it's crashing to desktop or gives you the "Stopped Working" window, that's a different problem. Going totally unresponsive for several minutes is generally normal though.

I think I am better at making posters than animating.

Re: Source Filmmaker Creations
This took four attempts to render correctly. I think it was worth it.
I think I'm getting better at animating. Both of Soldier's "C'mere" gestures were done entirely by manipulating his arm in the motion editor. Gotta start small, maybe eventually I can develop an effective method for 100%-custom animation. Animating one body part at a time (e.g. arm + hand, then spine, then fingers) seems to make for much smoother and more believable motion.

Re: Source Filmmaker Creations
I decided to try making a poster this time. I did some experimentation with volumetric lights, which look really really cool. I also decided to see if I could make a good "environment shot," without using any characters. Not 100% satisfied (this is my 4th re-rendering with minor tweaks ), but it's close to what I wanted.
Spoiler'd for large image.
EDIT: New version, I managed to make the shadows look nicer. I seriously need to stop working on this and call it finished, I've been slaving over it since I got up today...
