Double Drop Week

For those who don't check the TF2 blog, they're running a double drop week now.

Does this actually increase the maximum number of items, or just the rate at which they're found? Doesn't that just mean we max out faster?

Starting tomorrow find twice as many items. Enjoy!

Seems rather self-explanatory. It means you're slated to get double the drops this week than you would a normal week.

Also, anyone else notice the teaser image in that blog post?

I played for a while last night and it didn't seem like it had increased all that much.

They need to do a Quadruple Drop Week.

You wouldn't notice. It's the same interval of drops, you just get more of them, so it'll last longer.

OK so the rate stays the same, they just double the amount of rolls you get.

Ah, I was under the impression it doubled the interval.

I'd much rather get more items quicker than have twice as long to get them.

These are the launch options I set when I idle, helps it take up really no resources if you're interesting in doing something else while you idle:

-applaunch 440 -textmode -nosound -window -nopreload -novid +map ctf_2fort

I didn't think they did "rolls" anymore except in that you get a randomly assigned interval of time before your next drop. They couldn't increase the number of those "rolls" without decreasing the "rate" or average interval until you get your next item assigned by the rolls....amirite?

To give twice as many items, they just raise the weekly drop cap. Currently the normal drop cap is ~10-12 items per week before drops stop occurring, so with double for this week that makes it in the 20s somewhere.

That was what it was for the Australian Christmas double drop week as well. I was able to get ~25 items during that week.

I've never used any o' those fancy-pants launch options for idling, but I might have to now ... sure seems like it beats going through the menus only to leave it minimized overnight.
