Custom HUDs

Post by Bronze Fox » Wed May 18, 2011 9:17 pm

I was wondering if I'm the only one at the Ville who uses a custom HUD.
So do you use the default, or a custom one? And if you use a custom one, which one?

I personally use the FrankenHUD, which is actually one of the more famous HUD's out there I think.
I don't think I could play without this HUD anymore; I'm fairly certain its made me a better player.

I made my own, which I used for a while, but I became tired of having to rebuild it after updates.

Started using PVHUD a couple of months ago and love it. Highly recommended.

I use Garm3nHUD, mainly for the custom crosshairs, which are highly customizable, it's one of the first HUDs that has done this, and I wish more HUDs would do it. The rest of the HUD looks great too, everything is nice and big.

I've done some heavy editing to change some colors and position some elements which I thought were badly placed, I also got rid of the custom main menu because I didn't like it, but the HUD looks great for the most part and doesn't take a lot of maintenance.

This is my favorite custom HUD because it centralizes everything on my 3 monitor setup! I don't have to turn my head to se my health or ammo amount.

I'm a fan of CommunityTF2HUD (http://code.google.com/p/communitytf2hud/) - takes the best of all the custom HUDs and put's it into one.

I have a custom HUD that is in every way standard except that it can display a 32 player scoreboard. Forget what it's called.

I know that this is a thread discussing HUDs, but I recently came across this site where you can customize your configs for each class (fieldview model, cl_interp, crosshairs etc.) along with setting binds. It's easily to download once you set everything up, and you save it directly to your TF2 folder.

I just used it a couple of days ago, and as someone who knows very little about creating configs. it was very easy!

There is only one thing I dont like about frankenhud is that there isnt a match timer. Other than that its better then the normal hud

That's was a bug, are you running version 27 because that should have fixed it.
The thing about custom HUD's is that they normally break every major update.

I would suggest joining the group so you'll know whenever a new version is released.

this thing is great, I've used it to provide ready-to-go setup configs for some of my less technologically inclined TF2 friends, the crosshair switcher is the coolest feature but it's rather overshadowed IMO when HUDs like Garm3n's include custom crosshairs that work perfectly well and look infinitely better.

I hope the creator behind this site continues to expand it to include things like custom favorites tab for the server browser and custom HUD support.
