Not to threadjack too much, but was anyone else not able to edit their load-out last night? I was hoping to check out the changes to my loch-n-load, but had to settle for the stock grenade launcher all evening.

I don't even see why that would be necessary. A majority of the people only use the Amputator so they get the set bonus.

IMO, the Ubersaw is clearly an upgrade over the Bonesaw and Amputator. Even if you're not an aggressive medic, it is pretty easy to just hit someone quickly and run away (with 25% more uber) as your retreating. The faster firing speed on the Bonesaw and Amputator is great to protect yourself, but as a Medic you're a prime target for spam and much stronger weapons.

Not every weapon, compared to stock, will have equal give-and-take.
As an example, for the Ubersaw, you give up 20% swing speed, but take 25% Uber per-hit.
Most people would not call this equal, but at least it's something.

For the Amputater, you give nothing and take a healing taunt. It's win-win.
I'm not saying the Ampuater specifically needs 25% less damage, but at least something.
20% slower swing speed for all I care, it just needs a down side.

The Powerjack needed an extra nerf because it had +25% damage in the first place, so now it's just +/-0% to the FireAxe. Thye chose this instead of additional damage reduction.

And the Amputater needs an extra nerf too because of balance issues.

Edit: Hm, with the Powerjack you only take more damage if it's out. That's kind of disappointing.

Yeah, as of 3am MST no one on TV7 could access their backpack, change their loadout, or do any trading. Non-vanilla weapons were still being used, but only if players had them equipped pre-patch.

As someone who actually uses the amputator taunt:
The taunt itself is a downside, sure you could just never use it, but the temptation's there, and in most cases it's the wrong thing to do.
Personally I mostly use it for putting out large groups of people, or when the other team: has no spies, has no snipers, there are a lot of team-mates around me.

As to the set bonus, I blame them making amputator part of the set on new mediguns being so hard to come up with and balance.

And let's face it, the main downside to the amputator is that it's not the vita-saw or the ubersaw, when was the last time you saw someone using the bonesaw when they still had their loadouts?
Kind-of the same as backburner vs. degreaser vs. flamethrower now, very little reason to go basic flamethrower.

There's quite a few loadouts where this is the downside, look at the scout set, +25hp and no downside other than having to use all the specified items.

I use the stock flamethrower. :(
However I'm even more tempted to try the Backburner now.

I think it's more of a bandwidth optimization than a quality improvement.

Ah...that explains it. Is this still happening on TV7?

I don't know if it's my headphones, but it seems that after I key up and say something, the volume drops off to where I can barely hear the game noises. Anyone else have this, or am I just double unlucky?

some of the melee changes were reverted, I think all but the powerjack are back to their original attributes.
