Loadout Quick-switch

Post by Bronze Fox » Sat Mar 12, 2011 3:35 pm

I found out about Loadout Quickswitch today.
Greatest thing ever.

It enables you to change your loadout without having to open up your backpack.
Basically, after you bind it, (It's in the keyboard second of your settings) while you're in-game, if you hold down the bound key a little menu will open up.
Now, I have a custom HUD so there's a good chance the stock quickswitch menu looks a little different.

You can scroll up and down on the list and you click on whatever weapon you want to equip.

The nice thing about this, besides the fact that it's fast, is that if you have your primary out, it only lists primaries for that class.
If you have your melee weapon out, it only lists melee weapons for that class.

Another neat bound I found in the settings is Inspect.
While in-game if you look at someone and hit the key inspect is bound to, it will tell you the weapon the person has out.

If you continue to look at that person and hit the key again it will scroll through all the items the person has equipped.
While if you hit the key while not looking at anyone the window will close. This will also show items that have been name tagged.

I've known this for some time, and I'm about to blow your mind again:

if you press 1, 2, or 3 while holding the quickswitch button down, you can then select weapons for other slots without having to have the weapon out (if you need to switch away from the targe or something).

additionally, if you press 4 and 5 with engineer or spy you can see your PDA slots, not very useful for engineer but PDA2 (slot5) are you invisibility watches for the spy.

also, slot6 are your hats, I haven't had to switch my weapons through the backpack for quite some time.

Its been there as long as I remember. Granted, I don't really check it, and I don't use it, so....somewhere between a year and two years?

though I can't seem to find the patch it was patched in with, I know it was mentioned in the patch notes that one time.

This is hard to be cool and suave while being informative at the same time. Goddamn my coolness.
In my experience, common sense isn't too common.

Well, that might be worth setting up some macros for.
Say one button to swap from standard demo to demo-knight, or from syringe gun+ubersaw to amputator+crossbow.

It's just under keyboard section of your settings. You don't need to install anything.

The exact bind you're looking for is "Loadout Quickswitch" while the other one is "Inspect"

Don't worry, I thought there were only 4 oceans for the past 11 years.
