Re: Villuns with Unusual Hats
I am pleased to report that I succeeded in trading my Scorching Flames Crocleather Slouch, a lovely sniper hat which, sadly, I have no use for, for this beauty:
The Defiant Spartan (my favorite solly hat), with Green Energy (matching my Pyro's Brigade Helm). Eeeeeexxxcellent.
Not sure that I'll keep the green paint - I'm thinking maybe I'll swap it to black - but that's a minor detail

That really is fantastic Alizee! I am a bit biased as an USC football guy, but I love the Defiant Troja...Spartan hat. I can see why the previous person went green paint, but I think black, brown or white would work (all horse tail colors that would fit).
I've never really understood unusual sniper hats. Unless you use the Huntsman, don't you want to stay as unseen as possible?

Theoretically yes, but I think when it comes to a good sniper playing against other good snipers, it really doesn't make a difference. Still, there is a stigma about that, so I was delighted to find a buyer who was keenly interested in my Slouch.
As far as the name designation of the helmet, I believe it would properly be a Corinthian helmet accessorized with an Imperial Gallic style legionary crest - in other words, a helmet design that never existed Cool either way!

I wear mine all the time, but I do think it makes it just a bit easier for other snipers to find my head that much more quickly, but I didn't buy all those keys to sit on the darned thing.

Re: Villuns with Unusual Hats
I'm still only at 1, with my Orbiting Fire Exquisite Rack. I use it as an excuse to play Soldier, which I am still not particularly good at.
It's the only hat I ever equip on my primary Soldier loadout right now, although with some of my less-used loadouts (melee-only one in particular) I do sometimes switch in the G. Brain Bucket or the Helmet Without a Home.

@Alizee
That is ridiculously well matched compared to the majority of other effects; nice to see your persistence has paid off.
I also know where to aim now.

Re: Villuns with Unusual Hats
I think black would be an excellent idea for Alizee's Spartan, the green on green seems to diminish the apparentness of the effect (at least from the s/s), black and green would be a nice contrast.

Indeed, though I forgot one bummer of a thing, which is that the crest doesn't really turn black when painted - it turns more of a burgandy color (at least according to screenshots on the TF2 wiki). I'll take a look to see if there are style options that change the intensity or anything, but otherwise might have to go white to really get a color change. Pity, because yeah - black makes the green energy effect really pop (my GE Brigade is black for this reason).

You can still screw with team identification like all the scouts who wear a pink Fast Learner.Alizée Fan wrote:Indeed, though I forgot one bummer of a thing, which is that the crest doesn't really turn black when painted - it turns more of a burgandy color (at least according to screenshots on the TF2 wiki). Yeah, sniper unusuals are wonky. The people that have low visibility ones say that they are better, while the people with the more visible ones say their better cause their top their most of the time. But then the people stuck with the fetti sniper hats (me) are laughed at by both parties.

Good snipers aren't afraid to advertise their location.
