Alright, everyone, big news! We're working on getting a very exciting new plan built around TV2, and we're looking for your help. The Steam Community Group has been recreated and revamped, we're working on getting the map rotation switched around based on player feedback, and starting this week we'll be once again seeding in full force. This thread will be the new hub for everything TV2: Look forward to seeing weekly content here, blog-style, based on what happens on the server every week! More details soon. Feel free to re-join the Steam Community Group ( http://steamcommunity.com/groups/tvii ), feel free to keep up the map discussions here, and please join us for daily seeding! Keep an eye on this thread! Trust me!

I would like to contribute with a new, much easier to play version of avantiville! :D


I will be there with you to seed and gather info to keep our rotation current and interesting! I'm ready to take this server to new heights!

Any ville mapper can have his/her map in the vote options. I think camping trip should be.

We started a second thread so some new folks would look at the topic instead of the typical TV2 map lurkers. It's all part of an evil plan to take over the world.

Since Infy's taking a break from TV2 right now, we're trying to fill her shoes and continue to make customs a more popular server. Given that the server has entered a severe depression in the last few days, we gambled that the best way to improve TV2 would be to give it a fresh start.

While right now this thread is only a notice that we've purged the old TV2 Seeding Group (on account of most of the members being inactive and not wanting to bother them with the massive number of invites to come starting Monday), it will once it matures in about a week come to replace the old customs thread as a hub for server information and map suggestions.

So if you're interested in customs, join the new group! If you are one of our custom map experts, keep posting new map finds in this thread! Let's keep up the old enthusiasm and re-revive a struggling server of TheVille!


P.S.
It is a well-known fact that the TV2 Seeding Group provides unspeakably large amounts of sweets to its members on a daily basis. You will never crave again... join us.

Not as if you need me to tell you what to do, but I think a good start would be a list of the current maps in the voting rotation, we haven't had any kind of voting/discussion for a while.

In any case, looking forward to re-reviving.

I'm not sure what maps are in voting. My best source is the last edit on the old customs thread:

We've discussed it a bit in private and are leaning towards removing what we feel were poor additions and sticking with the safe (and dull) maps for a while. After a week of getting the seeding schedule back in order, we plan to start ruining things then by experimenting with more radical map changes:

-remove cp_observatory4
...reason: it hasn't won a vote for a long time and could be considered dead
-remove cp_corporation
...reason: unpopular among the seeders (whose life will be hard enough come tomorrow)
-remove pl_dbheights_b2
...reason: unpopular among the seeders
-remove cp_fallout
...reason: another map that seems to have died off
-remove arena_storm_b1c
...reason: one arena map is sufficient and harvest beats storm
-remove ctf_turbine
...reason: it's always been slated for eventual removal

+readd cp_silvertrail
...reason: we've purged the A/D variety and it seems the best replacement
+readd pl_halfacre
...reason: I haven't heard a strong reason for it to be removed
+readd pl_mill
...reason: open up another payload spot on the server for variety
+add ctf_campingtrip
...reason: it's overdue

Those changes leave us with a total of 14 safe, playable customs to rebuild the server around:

* cp_freight
* cp_follower
* cp_waste
* cp_yukon

* ctf_avantiville
* cp_silvertrail
* cp_furnace

* pl_stovepipe
* pl_halfacre
* pl_mill

* ctf_camping_trip
* ctf_chaos

* cp_desert_fortress
* arena_harvest

Then once things get active again we plan on looking into replacements for the older and weaker maps.

Please don't remove turbine though! I love that map and we don't have very many good ctfs.

i also suggest cp_HangemHigh (yup, the halo level), cp_Horus and ctf_Temple (a perfect dark and goldeneye map remake)

maybe Dom_Complex_B4 (although i think its a 7 cap level O.o)

Turbine stays, along with the addition of camping trip! :D

(as soon as Ian's ready to give silver an upload)

dom_complex is more of a gimmick/fun night map. For some reason tf2 folks will not embrace it. The dom_ game type has been extremely refined, but it has yet to prove any staying power.
