9v9 Night

Glad to see people still like the night.

Infy has far as minimum people go, having a min of 6 people per team would probably be the best limit.

If we go under that I'll turn 9v9 night into arena night for that day since arena tends to run better the less people you have (unlike most TF2 modes).

Still regardless during the "warm-up" period where we wait for people to join, we'll play a preassigned arena map. Since last night we played arena_sawmill, this night we'll play arena_nucleus. nucleus is somewhat undermined by sawmill but it's a good map I wanna try.

Also we're running yukon as our cp map, well because I'm in the yukon and cp_dustbowl since we never got to play it last night.

Guardian, I took the liberty of securing KRG's services for Friday. I can't believe he made you do that stuff with Maeeeeebelle in exchange for some admin-help. I told him you'd do double this week to make up for not 'paying' in advance.

i know everyone has been seeing me around more on Tv10 mostly. i have joined some 9v9s before some of you know me in game name is kamekazi. i would like be on the 9v9s more so hopefully you guys wont mind anther player for 9v9

After hearing a suggestion from Infusions, we'll be trying a new format on friday (similar to one pinko suggested a while ago).

How it works:

1. During the warm-up period (where we play arena for a while) 2 captains will volunteer for the night

2. They'll take turns picking players by saying who they want in spectator chat. Players won't be able to hear this.

The players will indicate what classes they want to play by either:

A: playing that class

B: Indicating it in their name like:

Guardian.TVR (Anything but sniper)
or
Infusions.TVR (medic)

3. Once the players have been picked over chat people will be told what team they are on by indicating if they are on blue or red. You won't know who got picked first or last, it will be random.

4. We'll switch the map and everyone switches to the team they were assigned.

5. Captains take time to organize they're teams a bit and we begin.



If past nights have been any indication, so far they haven't been any issues of uncooperative teammates. I'll trust that this stays the same here. I will also trust captains to try and include everyone.

I will either go with the old format or change this format if it doesn't go as well as I'd hope

Soooo... does anyone have any problems with the new format.... you can bring up problems with anything.

I'd rather have issues come up here about stuff like the map selection rather then suddenly telling me that you hate X map in game.

I don't see the maps as a problem, I like a lot of the format changes, so looking forward to tomorrow.

Definitely like the format. It's how most pick up games are run. Will try to make this.

How will you handle late arrivals and early departures?

There's a surprising amount of flux during the event despite it lasting an hour. During the last few, I've had to direct about six or seven people per night into the game as they joined. Will late arrivals continue to random it?

How will you determine the captains if more than two apply? What if less than two apply?

Will there be a single preparation period for the whole night at the start or one before each map?


And the most important question: do we have an admin?

During the last events the admins have been kidnapped and forced to idle on the server to keep the password up and restart the map. They will no longer be able to leave early given these changes, so it's rather important we have someone lined up before the event night.
