Love it !

It is a great map because as stated by a few before me, there are plenty of routes to go. It does not have a major choke point so it does not end up in stalemates and everyone fighting at the same point for the whole map ( see a craptastic map like Floodzone ).

Personally, I like the fact that the last cap is quick. That is usually the problem on most maps. The last cap is right near the enemy spawn and thus it is so hard to capture. In Badlands you know that the enemy can cap your last one so quickly that it really forces a team to get out on that hill and take back your second cap point ASAP !

Lastly, it just looks fantastic and very polished.

It's quickly become my favorite map. Yes, even more so that Warpath.

As for the last cap, it has to cap quickly because the enemy spawn is RIGHT THERE. And, as Ez said, it adds a level of urgency to getting that second cap back.

Why is the map named "badlands"? :?

I'll play it some more, but I absolutely hate it tonight. :x

I stopped thinking of it as "Badlands - The Original" as soon as I played it. ctf_badlands_classic is more like the original.
This one is fun if you don't think of it as trying to be badlands!

they should call it s**t lands...

I am very disappointed, despite what other Villuns think.

Waaaay too much running [kinda like c&c renegade] which means heavy's and other slow classes rarely get played.

I played it in TV7 today, and the server almost died.

CTF badlands appears somewhat smaller than this gigantic thing..

that's my 2 cents

It's called badlands because that's the setting of the map. It does have roughly the same layout as the TFC version but it's a different map. I haven't played it much but so far I like it a lot.

Burn the witch!

Seriously, it's great. It's big, yes, but not much bigger than Warpath, and like Warpath, the spawns move up as your caps do too. If it's still too long, have the Engineers build teleporters.

Honestly, I've spent much more time fighting than running in the time I've played Badlands...

What?! I think this map feels far smaller than any of the other maps. Thats why I like it, because you always get back into the action so fast. That said, I did play as a spy most of the time (much faster moving that what I usually play.) I think the caps are much closer together, making for a much different game than most maps around.

And warpath? I hate warpath, it's like a marathon everytime I play.

It's about maybe 10-15% like the original?

I wasn't a big fan of the original badlands. Didn't hate it either. This one seems better but I only had a chance to play it once.

i have generally enjoyed the map so far, but the gameplay seems slightly flawed. almost every single time i've played it so far, the winning team is decided in the first minute or 2 of each round. the team the caps the middle first, wins, usually within a couple minutes after capping the middle. and that teams generally keeps dominating the other over and over. maybe i just got weird luck and ended up played it on servers where the teams were heavily stacked. so far only played it once here, but the outcome appeared to be the same, tho the loosing team did put up a good fight.

on the good hand, its nice fast paced gameplay, with little chance of stalemate.

maybe with a little more time, ppl will figure out better ways to defend so the loosing team doesnt get totally rolled over.

I don't know, I've been an all sides of Badlands. I've been on the steamrolling team who takes the last cap within a couple minutes of the games start, been on the team who got rolled in that time, played a game where the middle was contested for close to 5 minutes before a team even capped it, and I've played a game where all we had to do was cap the final point, and they drove us back all the way and won the game.

The one thing that has happened the least? Stalemates, and that's a good thing :D

I don't have any complaints about this map, I had a blast playing it this weekend.

I think it has some real staying power.

I've seen a few engineers put teleporters outside the map..hope that gets fixed soon.
