Saturdays are good days to play for me. I work graveyard shift, so I can really only play on Saturday or sometimes Friday nights if we aren't working OT.

I already got the OK to play from my wife, so it should be good for me  .

What map or maps are usually played during the cup?
:D

If it hadn't been mentioned before it might be fair to clump players by their rank. You could say captains must pick from pool A first of the best players, then Pool B etc. This would help captains that may not know everyones names well enough. Thoughts?

It has been mentioned many times for the last few Cups, but we always end up at the same question....

...how do we fairly put people in tiers? There's a really good chance someone's feelings would be pretty mangled if he/she was put into a lower tier. And I for one, would hate to be the person who places each player in a certain tier. We can't rely on the stats because they also reflect how long a player has been playing, not just skill.

To get around this problem, we pick six or so Captains who we know are playing with everyone and know those players' abilities (and if they don't then their team lose out)
All the names go into a big list and the Captains are expected to scan the list thoroughly and then we spend a night on MSN drawing the names from the list.

But the important thing to remember is that the whole essence of the Cup is about fun, not ability.

Yeah I know its about fun but TF2 is most fun when teams are balanced hence the suggestion :D

Steamrolls are only fun for the winning team :P

I really despise being rocked by another team, but honestly, stalemates to me are just as awful super unbalanced teams.

A good game comes when teams are unbalanced and one team is pressing and the other is defending tooth and nail then find some miracle way to flip the game around. Those are my favorite.

As captains, they come up with their own tiered list based on their own discretion....

thats why we encourage them to study the list before the draft.

As I posted in another thread, stats do not reflect who is a good team player etc.

The stats are useless for picking Cup teams IMHO. The team that gels and works well together will beat a team of 1337 stat junkies every time.

MSN? :aaaah: Can't we just use theville's chat room, or make a steam chat, or other than that, just go in AIM? MSN is annoying for me... (of course, I'll join in msn if I have to...)

Very true, people too afraid to die and just sit back and pick off easy kills will look like stats god but having them on your team won't be a real asset.

When does the cup start each night? People seem to be saying saturdays. Saturdays work for me just fine.

I wish I could play some TF2 right now but I gotta go eat a free steak :(
