Half-Life's conclusion

The big r/gaming post right now is that Marc Laidlaw appears to have released the story for what would have been Half-Life 2 Ep. 3 or Half-Life 3 on his personal website. Said website appears to have been overloaded as of the time of this posting but a shrewd redditor was smart enough to copy it to github in the event of a traffic overload or Valve ordering a takedown.

This might be it. 10 years in the making but with Valve priorities elsewhere, a bit of closure is good enough for me.

It's worth pointing out, Marc considers this a fanfic on his Twitter, but given that he's the former lead writer and Valve won't say anything at all about the game, this is probably as canon as we will ever get.

I figured this was big enough to merit it's own discussion and post.

So people are morons about this. In the wake of Marc's blog post, people are review bombing DotA 2 in protest and rage. DotA 2 is currently sitting at "mixed" for recent reviews and many of them are just "where is Half-Life 3" styled reviews from people who likely don't have much experience with the game.

Artifact may also have something to do with it.
