I cannot get this game to not crash. Have the complete edition.

I have tried every fix I can find on google, I've gone 20 pages deep.

Run as admin
Change the processor various parts of the game use
Delete the Hardware Settings_info
Install and reinstall OpenAL
Force DX9
Rapture 3D install/uninstall

Games runs smooth as silk....when it runs. I enjoy it but just cannot bring myself to play anymore due to the game continually crashing.

Any ideas anyone?

verify steam cache
uninstall and reinstall
could also google your issue or check the steam dirt 3 forums as well

I don't know this game at all, but what kind of crash is it? Freeze up? Error messages? Straight to desktop? Whole computer? Does it occur reliably after a certain amount of time, or is it completely at random? What are the longest and shortest amounts of time it has lasted before a crash? Hopefully we can try to narrow down what's going on, so we can try to address it.

Here is the Error code. Completely random, can play for hours or it happens on start up. Same code each time. Game freezes, hit crt/alt/del, go into task manager and it lets me see the error screen and can close the game.

DINPUT8.dll, which is faulting, appears to be most often related to your mouse when it comes to Steam games. Do you have special mouse software, or an older mouse, or anything unusual about your mouse at all? Do you have a different mouse you can install and test out?

I use a Microsoft Sidewinder. I deleted the Intelipoint software and lo and behold, 8 races without a crash. You may have solved this! Eternal gratitude's.

edit: bah. Still crashing.
