Re: Civilization: Beyond Earth
A good new Civilization game would be quite welcome. V was very disappointing in my opinion, going to the hex-based wargame system of tiles instead of the square grid that had worked for every other game they ever made. Hopefully they'll go back to their roots! I'm excited for another space/future setting one, like AC was. Though they say it won't be just ACII (which is good), AC had some excellent traits I'd love to see again! I'm eager to see some gameplay videos, which it seems should be coming soon if this is slated for fall. I did a quick check on Youtube, but didn't see any yet.

I don't think you'll be in luck regarding your square desires. The few screenshots that have been released strongly suggest a continued use of hexagons.Alizée Fan wrote:A good new Civilization game would be quite welcome. Re: Civilization: Beyond Earth
I seems hexagons have become standard for 4X games recently. Civ 4 is still my favorite Civ game of all time, maybe even my favorite 4X.

Re: Civilization: Beyond Earth
I have it preloaded, but I probably can't play til Sunday. I've been watching some LPs on the youtubes and it looks pretty fun. I'm sure I'll get a ton out of it now, but given how much civ5 improved over its lifetime with patches and expansions, I know BE will only get better from here.

Haven't gotten very far into a game yet, but... There are aliens everywhere.
How am I supposed to live in harmony with the aliens if they want to eat me?
Also, the new tech tree is interesting, being more like a web and less like a path.

Re: Civilization: Beyond Earth
I'm doing an ARC harmony game and I landed next to 3 nests and several aliens. Getting the upgrade where aliens can't attack your trade routes was great. I believe I got this from a quest that I received when I built my first ultrasonic fence.Sparky062097 wrote:Haven't gotten very far into a game yet, but... There are aliens everywhere.
