Dark Souls II

Post by Bronze Fox » Thu Mar 06, 2014 6:19 pm

So I'm interested to know if anyone else has pre-ordered this and/or have been following the development as well?

I'm taking a risk and hoping the PC version doesn't need mods to properly play as the first DS did.

I've been watching this game off and on since its announcement. Everything I've heard and seen indicates that it's going to be a solid game and a worthy sequel. I'm looking forward to it a lot.

It seems they are giving much greater thought towards the PC version than its predecessor. Remember, it was ported only because the fanbase petitioned for it to be on PC as well. From Software even stated that they had little experience working with PC games and thus it would be a lousy port.

This.

Although I'm quite excited for it. Even with some of the poor multiplayer support on pc, I still enjoyed Dark Souls quite a bit. Will definitely be pre-purchasing

I never played dark souls 1 because I heard it needed a controller which I don't have. Hopefully DS2 will give greater consideration to PC gamers and it will be as good as the first supposedly was.

Okay, I was able to marathon three-quarters of it during spring break and beat it throughout this week.

Thoughts: (Medium-ish Spoilers)
VIEW CONTENT:
Very fun game, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the first Dark Souls. I feel like From went way out of control with trying to fix "problems" in the first game. No more infinite use orbs, weapon durability, and soul mass stand out the most to me. Also, almost none of the bosses had that "Oh wow" element that I had in the first Dark Souls. Giant boss, circle around back and attack was the majority of every boss, or it was multiple bosses fight which was just plain frustrating.

Story was lackluster for too. I had a general understanding and direction in Dark Souls 1, but I had no clue what I was doing and why I was doing it in this game. I literally had no idea I was trying to get four great souls for the first portion of the game, and after that the Emerald Herald would just teleport in at certain parts, say something really cryptic, and then you just keep going.

I suppose I set my expectations too high from Dark Souls 1 and was disappointed in the end. That won't stop me from playing through several times after this semester though.

I would still strongly recommend a controller.

It requires fighting game level of melee.

I'm a little confused. Your friend is a fan of the Souls' games, owns DS1, and said it wasn't great?

If you're talking about demon souls you are correct. I still think that is the hardest of the three.

If your friend has it on Steam you should ask him if you can do the borrow game thing. Try it out yourself you might like it if you like games in that style.

I'm still mad about DS1 for PC and the GFWL thing, I never got it to work at all, though I heard the port wasn't very good anyway. . .
