Re: Elder Scrolls Online
The potential is there. I love the Elder Scrolls universe, but I've never liked any MMOs. From all the preliminary rumors, it sounds like this going to be very similar to all the other MMOs, just set in TES universe. I'm also dead-set against paying subscription fees to game, so if this game has that, forget about it.

Re: Elder Scrolls Online
I'm not much of an MMO person, but I might give it a whirl. Especially if there's free-to-play.

Re: Elder Scrolls Online
If this is another standard MMO mold game then I have zero interest.
I like TES games because of the character progression mechanics, the exploration, and how the world feels. No idea how thy are going to transfer that to an MMO.
If they did TES Online more like how a Minecraft server works or how NWN online worked I think that would be effective.

Re: Elder Scrolls Online
Yeah, I would be a big fan of a server system that truly limited the amount of people on a single server. Ya know, in a way that would make the population of Tamriel still feel normal, only occasionally seeing people, still allow for exploration in the same way that Skyrim does. Then have a PVP area that is more or less separate, but still has it's place(obviously a combination of lots of servers). However, it should be made that the entire world is open PVP. If it could be worked that the only guilds are the normal ones, like Thieves Guild, Mages Guild, Fighter's Guild, etc. it would be quite awesome.

Re: Elder Scrolls Online
The problem with trying to convert the TES world to an MMO is that the games and lore are based on the singular power and uniquely special nature of your particular one character. YOU are the most powerful person in the world, YOU are the chosen one gifted by the gods, YOU are the master of every guild, savior of every city, and defeater of every evil. YOU are the one being out of everybody in all creation who can do what you do. Think of it - TES characters do not lead raids. TES characters are loners, and everything is written with that in mind.
Being Dragonborn loses significance when 1000 of your neighbors are as well. A special pardon from the king is of no import when entire ships full of royal-pardoned prisoners arrive every day. Everything that defines the story of TES games is untenable in an MMO. The huge open world is doable (and would be cool), and many of the mechanics would be fine, but the lore and history would have to be completely eliminated and replaced, or else all the players will simply have to be everyday guards and peasants while NPC saviors do the big stuff. One way or another, the characters we're used to playing will not translate in the slightest.

looks great, like classic elder scrolls. that clean interface is so nice to see in an MMO, and a game still rooted around Lore and RP.

I've played the ESO beta but I can't say anything about it because of the NDA.
