Because apparently Portal is being considered as a teaching tool in schools, Valve's made the original Portal free until September 30, similar to what they did back when Steam came to Mac (was that when it was?). Now we can all tell our kids about how back in OUR day, we didn't have them fancy-pantsy portals at school to teach us physics - we had to drop bowling balls off of skyscrapers! (And bowling balls were real things, not just models in a game played with a remote!) And portals were considered a "game," which in the eyes of a schoolmarm meant "a waste of valuable teaching time!"
Seriously though, if you don't have this game yet, go get it now. Your life will be forever incomplete until you at least play through it once.
