For the Hoard!

Post by Boss Llama » Sat Jul 02, 2011 11:35 am

No, I didn't misspell horde, I'm referencing this game.

It's part of this Steam Summer Camp event. Evidently, there's some kind of achievement that enters you for big prizes if you get it. I just like the fact that you get to be a dragon and destroy those pesky villagers.

I've acquired a 4-pack. If this looks like a game you want to play, and maybe get an extra chance at the big summer camp brass ring, respond with your best dragon roar. I'll gift a copy to the first three roars.

I bought a 4 pack last time it went on sale, gave them all out. Sadly, none of them hit me up to play . (

We played some 3 person MP earlier today - it was lots of fun. Would be nice if there were more maps, but no biggie.

The Summer Camp achievement is an enormous pain in the neck. At my best, I got maybe halfway to it. I have a tactic that should work, but it will take many tries, as it simply requires things spawning in the right order.

For the people who still play the game, Big Sandwich games released the Dynamite Roll DLC pack today.

The pack contails 9 new maps and 11 new Steam Achievements, four of the new maps are Co-op maps, while I think the other five are Treasure. There's also a couple neat new features.

Bomb Wagons: Wagons full of fireworks that appear from towns semi-frequently, when brought down to half-health, they will ignite and speed up, eventually exploding and damaging/killing everything in their way, including yourself if you're not careful. They will explode and hurt you if you just straight up burn them to death. Outside of exploding, bomb wagons function as standard merchant carts, and will still drop gold on destruction, as well as pick up any gold they encounter on the roads. Most of the new achievements pertain to destroying structures/enemies with this object.

Bumper Crops: More valuable crops that can come up at random around any mill. They are worth 400 gold as opposed to the usual 50. It's my understanding that these will go away if left unchecked. They appear as a green field of crops, as opposed to a yellow field.

Bell-Towers: These spawn randomly but rarely in towns, they take the appearance of either Bell-towers or Chappels. Destroying one yields about 100 gold, but also leaves behind a special power-up, which when used, instantly fills your health.

All three of those features can be enabled/disabled during the game set-up.

Also, according to a post on the Hoard forums (they don't use SPUF, but instead redirect you to their own boards), you don't have to own the DLC to play it, you just cannot start your own multiplayer games with the DLC features or maps; this also prevents you from experiencing them in single-player.

This is hard to be cool and suave while being informative at the same time. Goddamn my coolness.
In my experience, common sense isn't too common.

Purchased! Hoard is a basic game, but quite enjoyable, and these new items will help spice it up :-) Besides, it's only 3 bucks!

I bought the game and expansion, it's pretty fun. I fear that I'm not very good at it though.

Practice yields improvement :-) There's a significant margin to be gained through learning which things to attack, which things to leave up, and how to maximize take. Frost and I have been playing some MP recently, I'll hit you up if you're on next time we do.
