I thought Rift looked pretty cool, and I ended up getting a Guild VIP beta key. This allows 25 people to use the same code. Hit me up if you want to try it out with me! So an hour or two after my above post I just got a beta invite. They must be doing an invite wave or something.

I've been in the beta for the last few sessions they've had. It seems really interesting, but after a while it just seems like the same old grind you find in most mmorpgs.

Still the story was pretty neat.

I signed up for the beta awhile ago and finally got the invite to one of the events a few days ago. Honestly I just don't have time to play it right now between work and school, but I'm still tempted to download and try it out.

The beta ended a few days ago and I never ended up trying it out. I didn't really like how the beta was handled because even after you got your invite and your beta key you still had to wait to get an invite to a beta event. My beta event invite came a whole 3 weeks after getting my initial beta invite/key and by that time I had almost forgot about it. I didn't notice my beta event notice email until a few days after the fact and that event only had a day or two left at that point. By then I had talked to a few friends that had participated in the beta and according to them it's basically very similar to WoW(which isn't necessarily a bad thing in the MMO space, I'm just looking for something different). Anyway the beta has ended and I never tried it out. I probably wont ever play the full game and will revert back to looking forward to/lusting after Guild Wars 2...

I didn't like the game. Its just another MMO fantasy clone. I can make an enormous critique thread but I won't.
