I think the title says it all. I will be getting my student loans next month, so I will have money again. I know I want one. If there is enough interest and the bosses will let me, I will set up a ville server when the alpha starts

I have 8 days to decide whether or not I will preorder for the aplha testing, so, convince me too! I really want to and all, but its all a money thing for me now and I need to pay for school.

Think of this as an investment, Blah. If you are busy playing this you wont be busy wasting money someplace else.

Is NS2 ever going to come? I'm not sure how many people are working on it, but it seems like it's going to be dated before it's ever released. I'm still amused that they (what's-his-face) felt it necessary to write his own engine vs. use Source, UT, Cry...

Could be wrong, will see.

and from what I remember it was due to costs and need to customize/flexibility issues.

and there is no official release date but the alpha is out now as of July 26 -shrugs-

they needed another engine for a bunch of stuff that will be implemented later that the source engine couldn't handle.
it was easier to make a new engine from scratch then trying to implement/rewrite parts of the source engine.


keep in mind they're doing everything themselves with only a handful of people.

The only people i see complaining about it taking a lot of time, *unplayable* alpha and so on are people who didn't play NS1 or only started by the time it was dieing off.
I still need to see the first post of a die hard NS player who's complaining. [end rant]

Also, not quite sure how it's going to be outdated, it's still the best of the fps/rts combo games out there, in my opinion of course. But it absolutely stomps Raven Squad and the open source game Tremulous appears similar to NS. Think someone mentioned Savage 2 as an rts/fps combo as well, but not very many games, so not sure that it's an outdated gameplay. But I'm biased and love me some NS.
