"Asset retrieval" suggests a return to a puzzle setting. I'm still hoping for a Thief type sneak and escape type game. Hiding from Combine troops and evading antlions with a portal gun would be such a rush.
If you've seen the ending...
[spoil]The "Valuable Asset" being retrieved appears to be Chell herself.[/spoil]

Re: Portal related happenings
So Steam officially announced Portal 2 coming this holiday season (man, that's a while...)
But in the announcement...certain letters are inexplicably highlighted. Considering the highly viral nature of the advertising for this game, I don't think it's meant to be overlooked.

The letters underlined are:

Good luck, you'll need to find where the 0 belongs.

drattmannh0nee is related to the BBS server that was found earlier in the week. Its a new username/password
user: drattmann
password: h0nee
Previously, the only working name and pass was backup/backup. which still works but gives different stuff from what I understand.
As I don't have the archaic dial ups I can't check personally. Also that would be a lot of long distance call money I think for me
Addenum: it refers to one Doug Rattmann, an employee of Aperture. Possibly one that left the scralled messages in the back rooms of the Enrichment Center (I know I've seen the name Ratman or some spelling of it in relation to this before.)

The holes in the wall with the scribbles were usually referred to as rat holes.

I love the idea for multiplayer. At first it had me wondering how unique this could be from the first but co-op will definitely present much newer challenges.
