Dear god. People are nuts about this game!unsmart wrote:I played the single player on normal to pretty much rush through it. Normal is definitely too easy though. Haven't done all my placement matches yet, just one 1v1 and a 3v3.
Yesterday iOwn and I did a 2v2 on practice mode... I wouldn't suggest doing practice mode even if you have any rts experience at all. The main reason is that it is played at a lower speed and when you graduate to the normal league you are going to be overwhelmed by how much faster it is. Practice league is soooo slow. I'd suggest doing the challenges and try to get at least bronze/silver on all of them. Or do the coop vs the comp stuff to learn basics in a no pressure environment.
As Big Biker said, teamliquid.net is a great Starcraft community. Heck, it's probably the best one out there. It is heavily moderated and it's a great source for information. Be warned though, it is very unville like. Many of the people there are very elitist and are competition oriented. Many of them have man crushes on Korean pro gamers, mostly Reach the Man Toss.
Another great source of information is the Day9 Daily. He puts on a show most weeknights and it is very entertaining and pretty informative. I credit it with my being able to get to platinum in the beta without playing broodwar for at least 7 years. Here's his blip account's archives, I'll try to find some good episodes to link later. http://day9tv.blip.tv/posts?view=archive&nsfw=dc
And here's his streaming channel http://www.ustream.tv/day9tv Shows are mostly around 7 pm PST Monday-Thursday
