Valve making a DOTA game?

Well the idea is that anything submitted on battle.net is now property of Blizzard. So is the name 'DOTA'/'Defense of the ancient' Blizzard's property? This is the debate in hand and this is the debate that will go to court. Like unknown said, a large part of the DOTA crew went on to Riot gaming and came up with LoL / League of Legends BECAUSE of this possible issue with the naming rights.

I agree.. Blizzard can't do anything about it at the moment, and possible for a few more months, because the guys who made DotA were not Blizzard employee's, they were gamers, through and through.

Anyway, most gaming on DotA happened not through BNet, but through GArena, which has still more DotA games than BNet

@agro The way it worked would be that you might take a zergling, you gave him the ability with the broodlord shooting broodlings, except it is now firebats, and they expload after 3 seconds into a psionic storm like the high templar casts. Now that is just random but it gives a faint idea.

The rumor on Reddit is that Icefrog (the guy behind Valve's DotA) is a pain to deal with and may not be able to deliver Valve quality work. This seems like an odd move for Valve. As soon as even a screenshot is leaked, DotA2 will be compared to the award winning League of Legends. I'm worried that this might be too much for even Valve to handle. Then again, bringing DotA2 to the PS3 and Xbox would be quite profitable even if they lose the fight on PC.

Surely I'd imagine valve would get certain papers signed so they have the final choice in anything.
