Star Trek Online

Post by SilverOne » Tue Jan 12, 2010 1:23 pm

Anyone going to try it? I put the 5 dollars down so I can try the open beta that starts today. I hope its decent.

Just wondering if anyone else will be playing?

Last I heard they hadn't decided about a sub.scription fee. I hope there is no sub.scription because if there isn't I'll definitely get it.

I'm certainly interested if it's not p2p. I'm always weary of Star Trek games because they are often horrible. An MMO though, could prove to be very fun.

Give some feedback on what you think of it after checking it out!

Ive heard its kinda crap tbh.... I know someone playing the beta right now, but he kinda orgasms over the idea of it.

I prefer SPACESHIPS!!!! in Eve Online :)

I had been debating getting this or not. I love Star Trek but I have a feeling it will suck. Only way to find out for myself is to try it. So I've preordered and it is downloading now.

I want to try it so bad, ship to ship combat seems awesome. But, I can't afford a sub.scription and the lazy bastards haven't even announced it.

Well I played for a little over an hour last night. Main thing that made it hard to play was that I kept getting disconnected and it was laggy. But that was probably because it was the first night of the open beta. So that stuff is to be expected.

Overall, it seems that the game could be fun. The ship combat was fun. And I can't wait till I can have some other ship designs to choose from.

After the abortion that was Champions Online I gave my closed beta key away.

The coworker I gave it to (A big Star Trek fan), says at best it's mediocre. He said it was very, very boring, and very very repetitive.

I'd say stay away. Cryptic is not a good developer.

I am in the beta, and I am having fun with it, some of the missions are fairly long and detailed. This MMO does have some real potential, its just a matter of where the developers go from here.

I really don't like this new, "get games out before they are really finished" model that so many mmo game developer companies are doing. naturally there are bugs and alot of things that don't work properly. It can definitely keep you entertained for at least a 2-4 months I would say.
