Community Hatchery

The Ville Community Hatchery is now open for use! It features a metal incubation area for the highest levels of insulation plus 16 air conditioners for ideal temperature control.

The facility is available for use by anyone on the server, but the doors do have a PIN CODE of 2861 to help prevent drive-by griefing from random strangers who have never visited the forums.

Please be courteous of others and make sure you coordinate if multiple people want to use the facility at the same time.

• BYOG: Bring Your Own Gasoline! Each can of gas will run the generator, lights and air conditioners for 1 hour.

• Consult the wiki's Incubation page to make sure you know what you are getting into. Hatching eggs can be a long process.

• Watch Cheese's How to Get Started in ARK - A Beginners Guide - Breeding For Dummies - Ark: Survival Evolved [S4E18] for a good quick primer on breeding tips and tricks.

The Hatchery is located at the very southern, center area of the map at coordinates LAT 83.3 LON 48.7.

Make sure to share what you are breeding and show off your new high-level amazing Dinos!

Great discussion on the server today has led to a nice community effort to build a public incubation area / hatchery. Thanks to everyone who volunteered to supply materials.

We'll build it south of the main Ville base but use PIN codes on the door so everyone can get in. There are chests setup to start accepting supply donations. They are located inside the walls of the Ville base, behind the billboard, but accessible through the windows. The PIN code on these chests will be: 2861. We're on the honor system here.

I'm thinking we'll go with a build like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrNKQ6pesC4

Per the Wiki, if we use metal we'll get better incubation results at the expense of it not looking as nice.

We'll need these items to build it:

Stone Foundations: 11
Stone Ramps: 2
Metal Foundation: 1
Metal Walls: 29
Metal Ceilings: 9
Metal Doorframes: 2
Metals Doors: 2
Metal Gateway: 1
Metal Gate: 1
Generator: 1
Air Conditioners: 16
Plus various lengths of electrical wiring and a lamp or two.

I think the breakdown for raw materials is:

Raw Metal: 5,030
Cementing Paste: 345
Electronics: 250
Polymer: 80
Crystal: 240
Stone: 1,080
Wood: 500
Thatch: 400

Thanks, Flash. I'll start reviewing the bill of materials.................

edit:
i have the wood and thatch and the stone just need to unload it into the bins which im currently locked out of the base, and a bronto killed my carriers so thats amde things worse

IS that raw metal or metal ingots?
I have some of all those materials, plus some oil to create the gas to run the generator

That is raw, so cut the number in half if counting ingots.

Good progress tonight. We've got the base laid down and 3,500 metal cooking in the forge, so we're over halfway there with raw material gathering.

The A/Cs and electrical grid will need to go down next, but once we get to that point we are almost done. The rest will go up pretty quickly. With this progress I think we'll have it open before the weekend!

I jumped on this morning before work and added another 1,500 raw metal to the forge, so we should have all the metal we need now.

And I had a good morning fabbing some items (now @ 10 AC's). So we're closer to completing this project. Unfortunately, we're now exotic resource starved: Obsidian & Silica. So unless someone has a cache of these two items, progress will be slowed a bit.

I made a shallow dive in the Lower South Cave, (left fork) but did not find any Obs. Got a bit spooked as I was lightly equipped to go deeper.

I flew by a couple of beaver dams on the other side of our area near M's house, but was not equipped to raid. I plan on revisiting the area later today, better equipped. I could use some help in the cave dive, assuming there is not a safer place to get that item.

Been setting my creature farm to mating in anticipation of the hatchery, and subsequent nursery.

I dropped 384 obsidian, 74 silica pearls and 1,000 cementing paste in the fabricator at the team base. Let me know what else we're short on and I'll help round it up.

The server just timed out, but if things got saved, I believe that with the exception of the lamps and misc wiring, the BOM is complete.

You've done a great job with all the crafting and preparation, thanks Verman!

We're open for business. We need one more electrical outlet, a vertical electrical cable, two omnidirectional lampposts and and helping of red paint to finish things off. (Not counting any interior decorating if someone wants to do it.)

Thanks, Flash. We could not have done it without the massive materials supply from TheVille, Inc.
l'll work on those other items.

1530 hours - items in Depost cabinet.

Off topic, in preparation for the nursery/ranch, I added more land to the Ville-erosa. I need to have the admin destruct protocol relieved for a few minutes the next time we are online together.

I'm in the box now, hopefully hatching a baby trike. 45 minutes into a 2 hr 30min incubation.
We'll see what happens.
Got food, water and reading material for the wait............

And it's a girl! A level 99.
Now the hard part, Maturation. Feeding it mejoberries and watching its health slowly improve.
Ark.gamepedia.com seems to have a good handle on the stats for this operation.
Only used about 3 units of gas for the 150 minute incubation.

Very nice! Hopefully I'll get in there this weekend and give it a spin!
