Re: MechWarrior Online
I did like (ER)PPCs before, though it was impossible to get good use of of them with the small-caliber mobs running around. Might try them again then.

Re: Battletech
Blasphemy!! The equivalent of an AC/20 hit to a leg and forcing a piloting skill on top of that is part of the Joy of Atlas.One_Medic_Army wrote:Also kicking was waaaaay too good, so the damage has been cut back to be the same as a punch.

Re: Battletech
Something that occurs to me when I look through my '80s FASA stuff is that character stats are often inconsistent, or they gave allegedly very good pilots only average stats. Worth considering when our (and your) RP group is rolling pilots with 3 and 2 piloting and gunnery target numbers... ;) (Or: ...

Re: MechWarrior Online
The spread is still fairly tight. I wonder if the game engine could just assign random hit locations on firing and have the missiles make their way there on their own, like hitscan... but not. Though that would lead to the cruise missile effect that appeared in previous games, as they lag-compensate...

Re: Headset
Oh, I know... I have voice_loopback 1 set, and my first reaction with the new headset was ಠ_ಠ. The Medusa NX was definitely better with microphone quality. On the plus side, the mic boom on the 3D Alpha is detachable. If I need really good audio quality I have a field recorder and a video mic that I...

Re: Headset
My two-year-old Speedlink Medusa NX blew a channel, Speedlink seems to have disappeared from the Internet, and I don't like being deaf in one ear. So last week I purchased a $40 Creative Labs Tactic 3D Alpha. They're either miniplug or USB and seem to work decently. Some intermittent static from the...

Re: Battletech
The 6M is a good variant.
Note how similar it is to the GRF-1S.
Or, as you might have gathered from the past few months in MWO's Bizarroworld, in tabletop the AC/5 is usually ripped out for a PPC or LL...
I have a peculiar fondness for the Starslayer.

Re: MechWarrior Online
PGI's testing method seems to be to throw the ball at the players and see how many pieces of it come back at them, and what substances are on the pieces. ECM definitely seems to have gotten caught up in the Streak SRM backlash, since Streaks still aren't really happily resolved. It does force teamwo...
