25 points is a lot but I don't mind it as much anymore. It gives new people more of an incentive to stick around. Yeah, I once came in 2nd on my team and lost 400 hlstats but it's fine.

Don't mess with the melee modifier though :P Everyone switches to melee when you're a spy because they know it's a free kill :(

pardon me, but why is the multiplier for stickies higher than the multiplier for rockets?
You can defend yourself against stickies..not so much against rockets.
If you dodge a rocket it wont explode. If you dodge a sticky the demo can det it when it is right next to you.

My point is that I am glad that mr_s prediction of:

"Dog comes in...

Posts NO!!

locks teh thread"

is wrong. Actually, that is almost an insult to say that Dog's character is that of one who would not listen to the community he built and consider their proposals.
Dude..... like seriously.....

That wasn't meant to sound like an insult..... a joke rather..

Hold on... weren't stats meant to be for fun?

I guess I just missed the humor of a prediction where Dog would just say "No" and lock the thread. /shrug

Increasing points for blocked captures ... bad idea.

I've seen a number of games on dustbowl lately that went like this:

2nd map... defenders are easily winning. 2 minutes left, someone goes "let them win, we can farm more points at the last map"

then everyone goes farming on the last map.

Stickies are used a lot as a substitute for regular grenades by demos who can't aim.
Oh, even when you can aim, it's a mag of 8 vs. a mag of 4, and stickies are much more versatile. There's not much reason to use the pipes given the way stickies work right now.

That's true but the regular grenades are much more effective in close combat and hitting some sentry positions. I usually only use stickies as grenades when I run out of regular grenades. I was referring to some demos who never use the regular launchers.

As far as letting people win to get more stat points, that's just lame and is one of the downsides to having stats.

Indeed. I could understand this kind of behavior in WoW when farming points can improve your character and makes you hit harder, but in this game, at the end of the day, you are exactly the same player you will be on the next day, albeit a little higher in ranks that nobody care about

Not to mention that these stats are highly related to time played on the servers. One of those "noobs" someone mentioned earlier in this thread that get a 25 points by killing a high ranked may very well be a terrific player that only play occasionally on our servers.

Been playin alot of demo lately. I use the stickies 3/4 of the time...

But I have recently learned to use the regular ones in certain situations that acts almost like covering fire....

Ill toss a few stickies around in a small area. reload stickies, Then launch regular ones so that they blow up close to the stickies, then as the reg pipes are blowing up hit the stickies and start laying down more stickies.

This works really good when there's an SG with an attending engy. You can't hit the sg for 30 dmg 10 times, the engy will just keep repairing. So you need to do 300 all at once. Drop a few stickies under sg, spam the 4 reg pipes, when they start to blow up, hit the stickies....

One dead mini base

Of course, if you playing against German, he'll just come around the corner and shotty your face off so be careful of that too!

Yes there is costs associated with the HLstatsX Premium package we are using now. Anymore everything costs, for the first 3 months its $80 we will try it for that time period and if we like and can afford it we will keep. This first 3 months was paid for by a good friend to the Ville.

Hey I got your humor mr_s

P.S. Hey I have an idea just don't look at the stats and enjoy your game.

Some people like stats ... some don't care.

Some people just want the final score of a football / baseball / basketball game .... some like to look at the box score for more details.

Just because I like to read the box score does not mean that I didn't enjoy the game itself as much as the average fan.

The point is that everyone is not the same. If stats don't mean anything to you what-so-ever, then cool, continue to play and enjoy the game, guys.

I started this thread for those who do like to follow their TF2 game stats, looking for a way to balance the stats a little more. I was just throwing out some ideas and looking for feedback from players who do like to keep an eye on the stats pages.
