Alive and Well
Fifteen plus years is a long time. Even though I've been inactive probably since 2004. I've always quietly checked in here and there to see how everyone is doing.
Life is good. I've been in the poker industry for the last seven years or so. I was just a big part of the Poker Series over at Planet Hollywood. (Shameless plug) You can see some of our goofiness on Facebook at PH Poker. I ended up in charge of staffing and scheduling 300 dealers for the event. The Main Event that just completed just had a prize pool of 3.5 million dollars. The staffing part reminded me of back in the day when myself and SilverOne went over who were getting invites to <TVB>. So much for the myth that gaming doesn't help you in real life.
Sometimes small events end up changing the path that you are on. In July of 2002 I ended up visiting Vegas and decided to see if some people wanted to meet up. I (think) we had seven people there on very short notice which said a lot about the community. There ended up being five of those yearly events. A few people ended up being real life friends who made it possible for me to make a long shot move to Vegas. BRN and Albino Gibbon were great in making sure that I was able to stick it out in Vegas when it was tough at first. The people in Chicago gave me all types of crap about moving away and I'll be back in six months. Well it's been thirteen years in Vegas...
I've been able to travel to all forty-eight states and see almost all of the fifty largest cities in the USA. I still have real life friends from this server. SilverOne and I have been friends over half of our lives now. Albino Gibbon has been one of my best friends since I moved to Vegas and we've been bowling in leagues together as well for years now. He's one of the few people I know that can deadpan a statement and make people burst out laughing. There's others that I've met in real life such as Sgt. Stutter when I (or with the wife) would drive on down to L.A. from Vegas.
In fifteen years it's become acceptable to be an adult and still play video games. Back then you were supposed to outgrow them and be like the rest of boring adults. Psssssh... It's also become "acceptable" to accidentally meet your wife online. Back then you were treated as a freak or a weirdo.
The whole point of the post is this. Without this server there's no meeting key people that made my success today possible. Without this server there is no Vegas. I will always owe a debt of gratitude here to making what followed possible. Sometimes it's the smallest of things that change the trajectory of life.
I will always appreciate The Ville.

I don't know, I just thought I would install steam for a few games and check the forum. Been trying to track down MeatJuice.
I left Saskatchewan a year or so ago and moved to Northwest Indiana. Pretty cool to see some of the old names. I would love to get an old timer's night together.

Ahh the memories!
Similar sentiments as Frag stated.
Been a great relationship over the years.
Retirement is coming soon, so watch out. Plenty of time to kill.

Re: Alive and Well
The Steam sale for the 4th of July got me back on. $65 for ten games and I haven't played any one of those yet.

The advancements in bladder control undergarments alone are quite impressive. I often forget I am wearing them and they make my butt look like I work out. We've come a long way.
I have a butt and you do too. Let's be friends.
