Expert Campaigns
Are my new game of choice. Please let me know if you want to run one. I don't really go crazy on speed... I shop a little bit as needed... but otherwise try to go quickly.
I pug them frequently but would enjoy playing with Villuns instead if anyone is into it.
I find the level of control needed over commons is extremely fun... getting horded is just not ok due to damage and friendly fire is really devastating. I spend a lot of time shoving to avoid damaging teammates... needing to hop into a choke when a horde comes is just fun... using pipes or bile to divert the flow is huge. I love it the most when things get quite dire but through good teamwork, all ends well.
I also love the need for temp and regular health and how much the management really matters. Popping a shot while black and white for the last run to a saferoom and then making it ... pretty golden.
Anyways... hit me up for an invite anytime. Thusfar, I have completed dead center... I have done no mercy and
dark carnival but missed the choppers on the finale.. all quite exhillerating.

Re: Expert Campaigns
I'm always down for L4d2 campaigns. Playing on Expert is something I've yet to do much of but I do want to start.

I've found that bile is key for expert campaign. Hit me up when you run one, I'd love to play!

Re: Expert Campaigns
I personally like campaigns more than VS. Haven't actually tried Expert before, but based on my experience with Advanced, it's probably pretty tough.
I'd be down for one sometime as long as we're OK with the possibility of admitting defeat if we haven't beat it after an hour or two. I don't particularly like banging my head against the wall for hours on end.
A word of warning: I'm really good at shooting my teammates!

Re: Expert Campaigns
Couple things you should know about expert, B&B, so you don't experience excessive frustration when you play it:
1) Even with an experienced team, it is wise to plan for a two hour window on most maps, with numerous restarts. I think my personal most was 17 restarts in one map, including 7 in a row in a single section (though that was admittedly a very bad day). It is certainly doable with no restarts, but even a clean run of the easiest full length stock map (Dead Center) with an experienced team is generally over an hour.
2) Friendly fire will cause more restarts than zombies will. A close-range hit with the wrong gun can do 80-100 damage, and take a person from full to down in one shot. Most guns do 20-50 in friendly fire, depending on your range and how badly you hit the person. It's important to work together as a team to minimize this!

Re: Expert Campaigns
Yeah... I used to be quite good at shooting my team mates in advanced... it was only when I learned that shoving specials when in close proximity is hugely effective (except a charger) and also when everyone is clustered in close proximity, I take angled shots at the floor... still takes out the zombies and you miss your team mates. Lastly, consider just turning around and not facing them. Usually there are always stray zombies coming in from every direction and if I recall correctly, a hit to the back is much worse to the front.... so picking them off before they get to team members is valuable. You may just want to avoid a shotgun at all costs until you get down the subtly needed to avoid directly shooting friends.

Re: Expert Campaigns
Invite me too.
The real challenge is to do Expert on custom maps that we've never played before (a bit more of a challenge than the stock maps with which we're familiar). [I'm looking at you, Oddjob]

Re: Expert Campaigns
We can definitely run expert campaigns on custom maps. I've played most all of the good ones at least once so I'm at least familiar
Depends on how well the campaign has been designed or it can be extremely brutal. (lack of T2 weapons, no magnums, not enough temp health / health packs)

Then I discovered speed runs and I haven't gone back to Expert mode since. They're faster, often more exhilarating, and FAR more forgiving of friendly fire.
The last time I did an Expert campaign was beyond frustrating, 3+ hours invested and we didn't manage to complete.
That being said, if you do one on a weekend toss me an invite and I'll be game to join.
