Debuted 1974, and Dick Clark hosted from the start but did not host in 2005. Or 2012-13, since he kinda died before that.

Close! But according to Wikipedia the show debuted on December 31, 1972 (the 1973 edition) and Clark began hosting on New Year's Eve 1974 (the 1975 edition).

Although that might technically be New Year's Day since it takes place at midnight.
