Re: TheVille Dustbowl Newbie PUGs
Love this, thanks Mummy. My only recommendation: screw stopwatch mode. It may be the only way to determine the true winners, but as you stated, that is not the intent of this event, so just play by points. Why? Because a tie game is sometimes the most fun, and whereas classic mode may not accurately determine a winner in a tie of capped points, stopwatch mode can very quickly turn the game into a race and prematurely end the good times. That is all.

Agree with this. There's nothing at all wrong with having both teams cap out, and it can be really annoying to have a tight match end early just because in the previous round, blu capped faster.Earthworm James wrote:My only recommendation: screw stopwatch mode. If people want to time it, they can use their own stopwatch.

I've been/will be a little busy with some other issues going on, so Zero has volunteered to run point on this. Harrass Help provide Mummy and him with continued suggestions on developing this idea further!

Re: TheVille Dustbowl Newbie PUGs
Well this wasn't bumped in a while, so I might as well talk more about my thoughts of this.
I played through some competitive 6v6 Tf2...and it was the worst experience I ever had. Like I stated in my past post, if you don't have a mic, prepare to get picked on people (or even your captain) spamming you to get a mic. By the looks of it, calling randomness would be less important in 9v9, but you could accidentally throw games by not having one (not calling heavy in banana). Another thing that might happen is how demotivating some newbies might be. Getting rolled can be pretty sad, but meh, it could happen.
My main issue is about mics. That's basically it.

6v6 was always good times for me, but yes, it can get ugly and just be a mess if you don't make calls highlander is a bit more forgiving in that aspect. However, this appears to be more of a learn your role> win or lose.

Well the fact that the Ville is the Ville would help mitigate that issue. A solid captain that A) isn't insulting and B) motivational even if people are doing bad goes a long way to making a miserable playing experience bearable or even fun.Maple Man wrote:Well this wasn't bumped in a while, so I might as well talk more about my thoughts of this.

Not to derail the topic, but how do you have 0 posts?Loco'Danny wrote:Hey mummy I really appreciate you making this forum for me and pray we go through with this!
This is hard to be cool and suave while being informative at the same time. Goddamn my coolness.
In my experience, common sense isn't too common.

Certain boards on the Ville do not add to one's post count. I think this one (Events and Activities) is one of them.Zork Nemesis wrote:Not to derail the topic, but how do you have 0 posts?Loco'Danny wrote:Hey mummy I really appreciate you making this forum for me and pray we go through with this!

I didn't see this post until just now but I think this would be a great idea and having more regulars would be great. I would like to see more EU regulars particularly as it gets pretty empty on most of the servers in the times I'm awake
Thanks Sparky!
