Very good read...thanks for sharing and for all the work to keep TheVille running. It's great to be playing on the server and seeing someone besides myself politely asking someone to reduce their use of swearing, mic spamming, or personal attacks.

Well you should play with Zok sometime. He is like a verbal MTOD at time.Which is a good thing.

I love all you people! :)

Actually, I only led 2 guilds. Co-created <eVa> and did not actually lead <TVB> until I helped Frag/TYO resurrect it. I was a mere member of =USV= with you Giz, I was the Zen Garden Protector! :) If at some point, I led =USV=. . . .I don't recall it. lol Though I was pretty close with Roof, Blue and Hoax, I doubt I ever stepped into any sort of leadership role. . . .did I? No. .. pretty sure I didn't...lol

Proud of all of it, would not change a thing. It has been my complete privilege to spend time with such great people over the past decade and see the guilds grow to become what they are.
yeah im about 90% sure you werent one of the we3 when i was in

this was pretty interesting. Having known about the Ville for such a long time thanks to Gizanked, it was good ti see what was actually going on. To think that it came out of just a few guys to what it is now is impressive in a way. I remember seeing things over my brother's shoulder. I remember when he told me about Blue Ruler. I remember all of the time that he was online just doing things for The Ville.

In a way I'm happy to come to the Ville after him..... and that you have let me in despite that.

Great read. Tons and tons of stuff that I missed over the years :)

I'd be interesting to see the progression of what servers ran what games... like when did TV1 (avantiville) finally quit running TFC?

Fantastic to read the history of this place. One of the more interesting things to me is to see just how many people have been here for so many years. There is something really amazing about a group of people who have been able to stay a part of something for that length of time.

Probably need to add HERO as the winner of this year's Cup at some point.

Aah memories, all before real life, wife, bills and a career eats the gibs time away...

Every once in awhile I still get questioned what my license plate means. Part of it is the guild and the other part was my gamename here.

11 years later I still miss the fun of TFC.

Yeah I was going back and watching some TFC vids on youtube the other day. It's crazy how antiquated it looks now lol. I remember it being so bad ass back in the day.

Frag why do you have a 10 year award and I don't? :-o

And the winner is..
The Blade Runners won the The Ville cup II by a score of 80 - 0. It was a great match, but the Dahak-Hellschwin combo was too much for The Lost Peeps D.

Thanks to all of the teams that participated. We hope to have another Cup sometime around mid-summer. Congratulations and thanks again..

There's at least one cup missing.
I want to say it was in 2001 or 2002, but am still trying to pin that down. It was played on Warpath in TFC and won by a team of Pimps + 1 (members of <PWG> plus Fragfailure, who hadn't joined at that point (I think)).

Gonna add some personal history, which you can pull info from.
I discovered Avantiville in late 2000, where a friend and I used to play TFC late into the night while at university (which did my grades no good at all, study hard kids!). We got to the point where we'd start refreshing the server list, waiting for Robert E. Lee to bring the server online (which for us was around 11pm UK time, so must've been 6pm central). We'd usually be first on the server, which was good because it filled up FAST!

Another <PWG> member (cstone) and I built an avanti clone called 'breakout' which was tested and played here occasionally - would've been sometime in late 2001/early 2002 I think.
Do the old forum archives still exist somewhere?

Thanks Plinko!

That's interesting, according to a post by Chen in this thread: http://www.thevilluns.org/2002-2006/vie ... up&start=0
There were 2 previous cups! Still no dates though (will dig into this further over the weekend).

PMM - I'll be sure to get on Steam over the weekend, but you can always find me on the Minecraft server these days (TV5)

Great read. As a new member, it's really intriguing to see the roots of the community and just how far they date back. Proud to be part of such a long-standing tradition :D
