I named my scattergun Servant of Evil a few days ago. Not only does it sort of sound cool; it's the name of one my favorite Japanese songs.
Gosh, I'm such a nerd.

Some more I thought of yet have no Name Tags to actually use:

Heavy Fists -> Ol' Betsy & The Five Avengers

Scottish Resistance -> Point & Click Adventure

Wrangler -> Vintage Atari 2600 Joystick

Powerjack -> Assault & Battery

Jarate -> Tasty Lemonade

Bat/Sandman -> Gutsy Bat

Any Item -> "This Item Has a Witty Name"

And a suggestion for those here who are Flying Demomen or Soldiers:
Frying Pan -> Flying Pan
"So what have you been up to, man? Haven't seen you in so long!"
"Ah, you know how it is. Doin' a lot of side projects, some consulting, maybe a little freelance... Those are words that people say when they haven't actually been doing anything, right?"

Figured I'd bump this with the new load of items that have recently been released. I'd love to hear some of the clever new names some people come up with for their new favourite toys.

Since I wear the big World Traveler's ship captain hat on Demoman as I run around acting like an idiot, I'm going to use the next nametag I happen upon on my Ullapool Caber and name it "Derps ahoy!"

Maybe a description tag on the hat or something that reads "Derps hard to starboard!"
where doing this man.
where MAKING THIS HAPEN.

I'm tempted to call my minigun:
"You're making me play a heavy"
description: "Now I'm angry"

Also considering
Crusader's Crossbow: "Piercing Dispenser"
Description: "Hold still, this won't hurt a bit"

I'm trying to come up with something witty for my Loch-n-Load, while there's plenty of spam jokes on the other grenade launcher, the nature of the LnL means less spam jokes, so I can't figure out what I should do instead.

I've seen plenty of people put some pretty ambiguous references in their Ullapool Caber name and description, i'm trying to avoid that (though I love the default description, High-Yield Scottish Face Removal). As of right now, it's simply a Kamikaze Stick, thinking of a different, yet non-offensive name.

Kamikaze-on-a-stick perhaps?

Some ideas I have, no name tags on hand, but I like to brainstorm in my sleep
Shortstop: Rage Cannon Jr. (goes with my FaN being my Rage Cannon!): Are you gonna cry now? You gonna cry? (or however that particular scout domination goes)
Candy Cane: Candy Cane: Merry Freakin' Christmas wimp!
Boston Basher: +1 Great Club of Wounding (D&D joke)
Back Scratcher: Home Lawn Security: A Crazy Dave original! (PvZ joke)
Claidheamh Mòr: By the Power of Greyskull!: I have the Power! (He-man reference)
Warrior's Spirit: The Mole Mitts: Dig, dig, dig to your heart's content! (Zelda reference)
Fists of Steel: Falcon Punch!: Show your moves! (duh!)
Crusader's Crossbow: Pins and Needles: Hold still, Schweinhunds, zis will only sting for a moment.
Amputator: Amputator: Also useful for rescuing one-self from bear traps and the like.

On another note, hats off (no pun intended) to whoever knows where my Treasure Hat's description comes from

Treasure Hat: A pirate I was meant to be, trim the sails and roam the seas!

This is hard to be cool and suave while being informative at the same time. Goddamn my coolness.
In my experience, common sense isn't too common.

Guybrush Threepwood.

I'm on my second name for the Back Scratcher now. The first was a reference to this guy. Last night I decided that while that was academically very clever, it wasn't as silly as I'd have liked, so I went with a reference to the Rake Snake of Far Side and this.

Only two so far...

- a pink Gibus called the "Ghirley Gibus"
- my trusty Grenade Launcher is "Rowdy Roddy Pipe'r"

I'm considering painting my Safe 'n Sound brown and giving it some sort of Princess Leia name. Or is that too much girly headwear for one dude to have?

I have renamed my Scout Holy Mackerel to:
"The Salmon of Doubt"

With the description:
"So long and thanks..."

I miss Douglas Adams and like to pay homage to him whenever I can.

I kind of like that my victim sees "So long and thanks..." A fish kill is so degrading I feel, and that just adds to it!
