There was an update to Portal today, adding 1 new achievement with no di.scription, relating to recieving transmissions.

I started a new game, and prompted by the achievement icon of a radio carried that thing around with me in the first level. As I proceeded to the first big button, the radio went all static then started recieving morse code (!) and a light on it went from red to green.

Quit out, did some quick searching and found a few articles. This from The Escapist summed it up best as of this posting:

Well, It looks like ValVe may finally be teasing portal 2. The latest update apparently adds hidden radios to every chamber of Portal, radios which appear to be sending some kind of message, possibly in Morse code.

Alright Fanboys, we got a mysterious message that needs deciphering, so hop to it!

*UPDATE* The zealots over at the steam forums have already translated the first message from Morse code. it reads:

"interior transmission active
external data line active
message digest active"

It reads an awful lot like a system booting. Looks like something might still be alive...

Anyone here play portal that knows morse code?

Update: Seems that many of the messages somehow decode into images

Edit: Images are via Slow Scan TV, where images can be transmitted via audio signal. This is crazy. Current theory is that circled numbers/letters work to an MD5 hash checksum (if I said that right.)

Edit2: They've worked it down to what they think is a number that calls a BBS.... Who has something that could connect to that anymore?

Anyone with a phone line, hardware dial-up modem and Linux.
I have the last two, but not the first.

If anyonw can figure out the dots and dashes of the morse code, I would decode it. Morse code can not decode to images, I don't know how that ended up happening.
EDIT: I found them decoded on the steam forums.

What's the bet that, after all the fan controversy that happened when they announced L4D2 last year, and with their sick, wacky sense of humour, Valve will actually announce a L4D3 at this years E3.
