The only thing I look at are the daily awards, I like to win those. :D
this... but there is something fun about getting the flare gun kill award, or seeing that for some ungodly reason somedude has like 10x more rocket reflect kills then the next person

Haha yeah, I'm on a soldier shovel quest right now. Legitimate kills though, not running around like a ninny with my shovel out.

Villuns, the longer they stay around here, tend to not care one way or the other, when it comes to stats.
The stats take second place to the fun of playing with other members of the community!

TheVille doesn't compete, but I would disagree on your comment on teamwork. Some of the best players out there, play at TheVille and we all thrive on teamwork. You just have to listen to Ladeee or Archon or many others pass on information about gameplay. IMHO the master of teamwork is Torven who is totally aware of everything around him.
I try but I'll never reach their level.

So the stats are interesting....but there are many of us who don't really look at them much

The stats do come in handy on occasion when we need to ban someone and don’t have all the information we need.
The tf2 stats are still mostly individual based instead of team oriented stats. Those events are harder to pick out maybe or require too much logic checking for them to be detected on the fly in-game on the server side. The more specific you get with event sequences the more you need to account for exceptions of false positives. I don't think the game is robust enough for that, just yesterday, I killed a sniper with a flare just before he headshotted me and the game gave me credit for the sniper headshot and the sniper got credit for killing me with a flare.

A better question is what would be a wish list for stats you would like to see for tf2.
One thing I would like to see on HLSTATS is a breakdown of the numbers based on class. It is odd to me that this isn't there. I'd like to measure my performance as a soldier or a demo, etc.

I quite like them though, I guess I'm a "stats junkie" too. They aren't great for comparisons to other players but they're fun to look at.

I like looking at my weapon numbers and such. But overall in terms of measuring skill the stats are fairly useless. But this place isn't about measuring skill anyway.

I believe the correct phrase is 'can't win for losing!'

OK, I noticed this gem today, proof positive the stats are TOTALLY USEFUL:

4. Killed Object - Sentrygun 367,139 times 5
5. Built Object - Sentrygun 359,625 times 5

Yes, we've managed to destroy a shade under 8,000 more sentries than were built.
Please don't ruin my fun with logical explanations, OK?
