For those getting duplicates, the delete item function still exists.

Does anyone know if you can still get the weapons via achievements? For new and old classes? For example, if I haven't "found" a huntsman when i've completed x% of the sniper achievements, will I get it unlocked the traditional way?

I may actually delete the items I haven't "earned"...

The idle thing is stupid, surely unintended yet incredibly stupid.

Waking up in the morning to find half my friends online - only to discover they're all idling in achievement servers? I can't think of anything good to say about that.

If they wanted to end the relationship of sidegrades to achievements, why not just let everyone have the items out of the box? I mean, now you DONT EVEN HAVE TO PLAY to get them, so why connect it to play at all? Even if they make a fix for it (assuming it's desired), tons of people will already have their unlocks and the trading system will take care of the rest.

I already earned all the other class unlocks playing normally, not to pat myself on the back but to say - it didn't take that much time and I don't play sniper or spy so I don't need to cry about people getting them. But I will care when the remaining classes are released.

pity.. this could have been an awesome way to do it, but valve managed to F it up again

A bit late, I just woke up to find out my idle server shut down moments after I went to sleep :(

Anyways, I've been holding off the steamforums and I'd like to say that the reason that this system cheeses everyone off is probably the time investment and the randomness. Their whole death philosophy was that you have to know WHY you died so a) you can improve and (imo) b) you don't think the game is "unfair" like getting shot out of nowhere in Joint Operations :cry: This system defies that whole philosophy and then we feel singled out by some arbitrary system and that really gets our goat. I think people would be less [emphasis] angry if they had some hard system but concrete and defined. One weapon every 500 kills or something...oh wait that was the milestones wasn't it? :oops:

Also I don't think the trading system is that useful until there is a random stat weapon system. Because honestly, would anyone trade their ONLY Cloak and Dagger or Soldier's-Hat for my 5 backburners [with a bonus flare gun if you respond in the next 20 minutes]? We'd be completely dependent on the magnanimity of people who have 7 cloak and daggers, which I guess is alright by me.

That said I heard they're increasing the drop rate to 2guns/30min so rest easy until tues and I'd like to say that I've gotten ALL of my 18 duplicate items while playing on normal servers and ALL my new weapons while chatting with people in idle parties [and yes it is a party] :lol:

I'm really still very sleepy I hope that follows some kind of....that thing that involves...thinking.

Steam says I'm at 22.3 hrs of TF2 in the last 2 weeks. Only about 2 hours of that happened before the patch. I left TF2 on overnight idling. I have received ZERO weapons of any kind so far.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting I need to enable? A steam blob I need to delete? What the hell is going on?

The first step in Idling is making sure that the server you're on is VAC-protected.

From my experience, you still have to be somewhat active but while being somewhat active I've seen people get ambassadors and jarates and what not. Even HATS :O, I've gotten weapons while spectating even so I dunno.

It could all still be bad luck, there are people on steamforums that have 40 hours with no weapons.

As far as servers go it seems like you can't have bots you need a public server so activate sv_lan 0 and you need to be on the "white list" VAC servers so you need sv_pure 1

I hate to be the one saying it but ScurvySD might have a rare glitch that prevents you from getting unlock due to steam not tracking how much time your playing but I don't know any details on it.

I don't know for sure but I seemily had it the first day the unlocks came out but it was fixed for me on friday.

The only advice I can give you is restart your steam account as that seems to be the only trick that sometimes works and to wait for word on monday from valve.

Given the amount of whining on the steam forums, they'll be something changed on monday.

Before the weekend I found a second blutsaughter, and earlier yesterday I got BONK! FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME! Yes, that means I am now caught up with everyone else before this update.

And since then, I've gotten nothing.

But you know what? THAT'S OK! Because it's only been FOUR DAYS since the update came out. I'm not in so much of a hurry to get all 15 unlocks.

Of course I'd like to play with the toys! Carpe's account has the Huntsman and I got to play around with that for awhile. I really like it, I'd like one for myself and really improve my usefulness as a sniper. But if you got a new weapon every half hour, and never saw duplicates, everyone would have EVERYTHING in a day or two.

People seriously need to stop saying that Valve screwed up this update beyond all repair. I wish they had implemented this system sooner.

We're all older players and quite jaded, but what about all the newer people we're gonna have picking up the game after the free weekend? Under the old system, none of the people would be able to TOUCH these weapons and try them out. Just for playing the game. Imagine that, what a reward. You play the game, and the game GIVES YOU more content as you go. What an incentive to keep playing.

So people, do calm down. Once again, Valve does us good and most of us can't seem to acknowledge it beyond the ferocious craving for the new toys. You will get them. Again, this coming from someone who only JUST got caught up from the scout update. You WILL get your unlocks. Be patient.

And one more thing - If you have time to be complaining about what you don't have, you have time to working forward to your goal of attaining that what you do not have. Hop to it.
