In game voice chat.

Am I missing something? Is it possible to communicate with your squadmates in game? I seem to remember BF2 having all kinds of options to talk with squad and team or commander. Hell, as commander I could talk to individual soldiers if I wanted.

Did they really launch without the ability to talk to your squad?

I think there is a way to set up a squad chat thing in the battlelog but I haven't seen it done.

I was under the impression that you could set up squad chat once in a server via battlelog and invite your squadmates but I haven't seen it. You can however create parties with VOIP by inviting friends to groups.
There is one third party app that allows a teamspeak server to detect what squad/team you are in and put you in that channel, but that requires players to manually join teamspeak.

I REALLY want to like this game. I'm starting to get used to the gameplay and feeling much better about not completely sucking and I'm starting to enjoy myself.

But.

There is no communication. Yes, you can start a party chat or whatever the hell it is with your friends.

It's just patently absurd to launch a squad based tactical shooter when YOU CAN'T TALK TO YOUR FREAKING SQUAD.

I'm sure they will add all this stuff but to launch without it is ridiculous. I may just have to take a break for 6 months and come back to this game when this stuff gets patched in. I bought BF2 in mid 2005, over 6 years ago and they had in game squad communication then. To not have it now makes my tiny brain just want to explode.

I really suggest hopping on teamspeak with all us villiuns and playing on tv14 when it is happening. You will have a lot more fun when playing with friends.

Do you actually want to talk to the non villuns who play this game? Look at the chat box for 5 minutes and then tell me you do with a straight face. Use team speak.

The chatbox is that thing that covers half your screen when anyone types something.

I played most of my BF2 on servers run by tactical gamer. In fact I paid for a reserved slot just like I do here at the ville. There was no mic spam or problems whatsoever.

But I understand what everyone is saying and I'll make sure to have teamspeak up and running when I play from now on.

Oh, and I don't suppose anyone knows a way of turning off the chat box or at least reducing the size?

Ok, looking at the tactical gamer website the have a teamspeak plugin for their servers which solves all the communication issues.

"it automatically moves you to a squad channel with your squad mates. If you change squad, you will auto-magically change channel, also if you are a squad leader it will automatically add you to a squad leader net."

http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlefiel ... ution.html

The plan is to release it to the community any day now I believe. When they do please, pretty please can we get it on the Ville.

That sounds great, but would that require exposing non-Villuns to our TS3 server? Either way, I'm all for it, as long as we have Microsoft Sam to speak out all those ?!?!!?!?! And John Maddens
