Allayville Banter
Just starting a new thread for the new map. We can start posting here for Allayville so that we can keep track of things as we build.

Re: Allayville Banter
For those of you who would like to, we can post our coords for our builds here too. ( I would post mine, but I haven't found my inspirational spot yet for my build.)

are you looking for a particular biome or such? I've been hiking around to find badlands so have found quite a few different biomesLadeeeDuke wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 1:32 am( I would post mine, but I haven't found my inspirational spot yet for my build.)

Re: Allayville Banter
I think I've found my spot. Mine preference is usually to be where multiple biomes are readily available. But I also look for inspiration. This weekend I hope to get Fizix to help me get our place started. (I am feeling under the weather today.)Kahlan Amnell wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 7:47 amare you looking for a particular biome or such? I just read the setup instructions for Bluemap and it looks pretty straight forward. I'll give this a shot after dinner.

Re: Allayville Banter
Ran into issues that the server needed a bunch of updates and then apache2 choked on some old stuff and by the time I cleaned all that up I went to bed.
It's pretty straight forward. I just need to write a little bash script and then add it to run on a schedule. I should have time this week.

Awesome! Thanks for all the hard work. It's appreciated.Flash wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 7:49 pmRan into issues that the server needed a bunch of updates and then apache2 choked on some old stuff and by the time I cleaned all that up I went to bed.

If you don't mind me asking what is the server setup? I setup a Debian VPS running Pterodactyl and using docker game containers and I'm interested in learning what others use.

Re: Allayville Banter
TheVille.org is on a dedicated server running Ubuntu for the past few years. It is likely time to move it though. We don't utilize it nearly as much as in the past (Stevo used it for personal projects as well) and problems are starting to creep in so it needs a rebuild anyways.
I think we've reached the point we can save money and get better performance than we are currently. We can separate the website and then put things like the Minecraft map and Events server onto Digital Ocean droplets. At least that is what I'm thinking at the moment.
