Unexpected Audience
So, I've been having a blast playing Minecraft the past couple of weeks (sorry, guys, it's been single player so far while I learn). I know we're all fans of it but I found it funny that my two kids are absolutely crazy for it. They talk about it a lot and ask me if I can play. They talk about green creepers, skeletons and zombies. They stand there next to me and make requests.
"Dad, go do this."
"Dad, I want to go to that island."
"Dad, I want to see that green creeper."
So, does anyone else have an audience when they play? It can get a little annoying when my kids are making requests but it's pretty cool that they really like it. I'm definitely more apt to let them watch this than, say, L4D2.

Yup.
My son likes to watch and I don't mind him watching MC.
I don't like him exposed to TF2/DoDS since he is only 7.

Sure, but don't you think Minecraft might be teaching him bad lessons as well?Dog wrote:Yup.

I mean, if he gets into a fight at school and subsequently explodes, leaving a crater in the playground and all, boy will your face be red!

Being Northern Irish, if he causes an explosion in school, I'll be as proud as punch...
Seriously, though, MC is less about killing and more about exploring and building....that's what's so cool.
Logic gates and basic electronics?
Mechanisms and problem solving?
Hydrodynamics?
Speleology?
MC has it all!
The endless killing of TF2/DoDS gets stale.

You just may not have reached that point yet. It happens to everyone at different rates.TheCarpe wrote:Says youDog wrote:The endless killing of TF2/DoDS gets stale.

Whenever there is a spider nearby my cat comes running over to my monitor, apparently she can hear the sounds it makes better than I can. It's conditioned me to start running when ever the cat jumps on the desk.
