Have you tried calling sennheiser tech support? They might replace them for a small charge. Other than that I have shure headset and I love them. Mainly use them for motorcycle riding. It does sound like you already made up your mind and you have liked senn headsets so stick with that.

Hey I've repaired plenty of headphones in my day, if they aren't absolutely smashed, I might be able to help you out with your old Senns.
I've got a pair of Senn HD-580's (open over-the-ear style)

I've got Bose IE2 headphones (not the sport model), and Mr. Blah is correct, the earpieces are very comfortable. Though I guess my ears are bigger, because they let in a lot of ambient noise for me. They're good if you need to have some idea of what's happening around you, but still want decent sound quality.
I haven't tried the Senn HD 580's, but I do have a pair of HD 598, and they are hands down the best over-ear headphones I've ever used. Very comfortable, and great sound quality.
The Creative HS-930 is another good pair I've tried, though they're a little overpriced.
The best in ear headphones I've ever owned are eers PCS-150. They've got silicon earpieces that mold to your ear canal. Great noise isolation, good sound quality if a little bass heavy, and comfortable. However, the earpieces are very tricky to get molded properly (it's a DIY kit that comes with the headphones). It took me two tries to get them fitted properly.
